Nick Kyrgios 'genuinely sorry' to miss Wimbledon after latest injury setback but vows to come back 'stronger than ever'

After another injury setback, Australian Nick Kyrgios says he has decided to skip Wimbledon this year. The 30-year-old reached the final at the All England Club in 2022 but that was his last appearance at the iconic venue after being sidelined with a long-term wrist issue. He won his first singles match since 2022 in Miami, but pulled out of the French Open with a knee injury.

Nick Kyrgios has confirmed he will miss Wimbledon this year after suffering a "small setback" in his recovery from injury.
The Australian has missed the majority of the last two years with a long-term wrist problem that required surgery.
He made his long-awaited return at the end of 2024 in Brisbane before competing at his home Grand Slam in January.
He lost in the first round of both tournaments before retiring during his opening match at Indian Wells in March.
Two weeks later, he picked up his first singles win since 2022 in Miami, but that was his last appearance.
The 30-year-old pulled out of the French Open with a knee injury and is now set to miss Wimbledon for the third year in a row.
"Just wanted to give everyone a quick update - I've hit a small setback in my recovery and unfortunately won’t make it back for [the] grass season this year," Kyrgios wrote on Instagram.
"I know how much you’ve all been looking forward to seeing me out there, and I’m genuinely sorry to disappoint.
"This is just a bump in the road though, and I’m already working hard to get back stronger than ever.
"Thanks you for all your continued support - it means everything to me. See you soon!"
Kyrgios’ best Grand Slam performance came at the All England Club, where he reached the final in 2022, losing to Novak Djokovic in four sets.
Wimbledon runs from June 30 until July 13.
