Felix Auger-Aliassime stuns Borna Coric

The Canadian smashed the ATP tournament's 35-year history books by defeating Coric in straight sets in Miami.

Auger-Aliassime's win against the Miami Open's 11th seed was his fifth career match against a player inside the ATP ranking's top 20 and his fifth successive victory.

The youngster was surprised with the win but admitted he "felt really comfortable" during the match, despite creating history in the United States.

“Playing Borna, who's been established for a few years now, I definitely didn't expect to win. I expected more, a set like in the first. But the second really surprised me. I felt like I had margin over him, had a bit of an edge. I just felt really comfortable out there from the first balls.”

“Everyone is super excited back home. It's great to hear all these good comments from them. It puts a lot of belief in tennis in Canada.”

I think it just shows that I'm doing good things, I'm on the right track, but I think I'm seeing the long term, and right now I'm just enjoying every day, enjoying every match, because you never know what's going to happen next.”

The Canadian is currently the youngest player ranked within the ATP top 100 (ranked no.57) but he is expected to reach the top 35 when the new rankings are released on Monday.

Auger-Aliassime will play defending champion John Isner in the Miami Open semi-final on Friday.
