Only Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, the top two players in the world rankings, having so far booked their spots.
All eight seeds at the CA Trophy in Vienna are among the top 20 in the ATP race, including Ivan Ljubicic (third), Andy Roddick (fourth), defending Masters Cup champion David Nalbandian (eighth) and Marcos Baghdatis (ninth).
Roddick trails Ljubicic by two points and both will need to reach the quarter-finals to improve their season point totals.
Nalbandian will need to reach the final in Vienna to pass seventh-placed Spaniard Tommy Robredo, who rests this week.
American James Blake, who defends his title in Stockholm this week, moved up three spots to number six in the Race standings after capturing the Bangkok title two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Nikolay Davydenko could potentially overtake Roddick at number four in the standings this week by winning the Kremlin Cup title.
Davydenko, who comes back after taking two weeks off for the first time this season, won the Moscow tournament in 2004.
