Britain's Cameron Norrie gets easy win as Peter Gojowczyk retires

Britain's Cameron Norrie secured his progress through to the second round of the French Open after his opponent Peter Gojowczyk was forced to retire in the second set.

It is only Norrie's second Grand Slam main draw victory after Gojowczyk exited the match with the Brit leading 6-1 2-0.
The German left the court a dejected figure but for Norrie it was an important victory in his young career.

"I was very concentrated throughout the whole match," Norrie told Eurosport.
"I was very physical and played the game on my own terms.

"I’m not sure what was wrong with him, but I’ll take the win. I was nervous and he was a little bit tired mentally. I’m just really stoked to get the win.”
It took Norrie just 41 minutes on court, and he will look to take that freshness into his next match at Roland Garros.

The British number three will next take on France's Lucas Pouille in what amounts to a very tough second-round encounter.
