Murray’s paternal grandfather Gordon died aged 83 last Friday.
The Telegraph broke the news on Thursday that Murray will intending to face Juan Martin del Potro in the first rubber, but brother Jamie – who was only told of his grandfather's death after his US Open doubles victory – was able to attend Friday's funeral. Jamie will play alongside his younger brother in the doubles on Saturday.
Andy attended the draw ceremony earlier this week before skipping media duties, with his absence described as a personal issue.
The Davis Cup showdown is taking place at Glasgow's Emirates Stadium, with Kyle Edmund completing the expected British line-up. Dan Evans could also be called upon later in the tie.
