British star Tara Moore collapses at US tournament

The 24-year-old Briton was a set up against compatriot Laura Robson, when she had to call trainers for help between games after leading 7-5 3-4.

Eventually paramedics were called as Moore's condition worsened in the incredibly hot conditions and she lay flat out on the court. Officials then tried to keep the world no. 192 conscious and play was suspended across the tournament.

In dramatic scenes, Moore was lifted on to a stretcher and was wheeled off court and into an ambulance.

It's not yet clear what was wrong with her, though spectator accounts indicate she was asked how much water she had consumed and signs pointed to heat exhaustion.
