Boris Becker has stepped back from his role as the head coach of Holger Rune "with immediate effect". Rune immediately benefited from an upturn in form after Becker was unveiled as his coach back in October. Just a month later, the German said he would coach Rune for the foreseeable future, but in a social media post on Tuesday it was announced that the pair would be parting ways.

Boris Becker has announced his decision to step down as Holger Rune's coach, saying he "can't give Holger what he needs".
Rune turned to the six-time Grand Slam winner in October on a trial basis after a difficult second half to his 2023 season, and immediately saw an upturn in form.
The 20-year-old progressed to the semi-finals at the Swiss Indoors and made it to the last eight of the Paris Masters, qualifying for the prestigious end-of-season ATP Finals.
In November, Becker confirmed that he would continue to coach Rune for the foreseeable future.
The Dane crashed out of the Australian Open in the second round following defeat to Arthur Cazaux, leading Becker to describe him as a “rough diamond”.
But in a social media post on Tuesday, Becker announced that the pair had split.
“I would like to inform you that I will step down as the head coach of Holger Rune with immediate effect,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“We started this partnership with the initial goal to reach the ATP Finals end of last year but moving forward I realised that in order for this to be successful, I would need to be available for Holger much more than I can.
“I wish him only the very best and I’m always going to be his n.1 fan. I truly appreciated this journey together. BB.”
Just last week, Rune split with Roger Federer’s former coach Severin Luthi, a few days before withdrawing from his semi-final against Borna Coric in Montpellier with an arm injury.
