Dinara Safina after easing into the fourth round for the first time at Melbourne Park: "There's a first time for everything. Twice I lost in the third round. I was like this today: 'That is the third time (and it) should be the luckiest one'. I'm not a roadrunner on the court. I cannot be as fast as some other players, but I have some other weapons. If I use my power, then I have to run less. It's time to use it sometimes."
Jelena Jankovic on her win over Japan's Ai Sugiyama: "I have always had tough matches against her, she has a lot of experience and is a very solid player so I really had to work for every point."
Jelena Dokic is beginning to feel confident about mixing with the world's best after beating her second top-20 opponent: "My confidence is really great at the moment. To start the year like this, I'm really looking forward to the rest of the year. I think my goal was to be in the top 50 by the end of the year. I'm still keeping that and getting my head to getting to the top 50."
Alisa Kleybanova who played the game of her life against Ana Ivanovic: "I'm so happy that I did it. We both played great tennis and I really enjoyed the crowd over three sets. I'm happy to win because I was able to play my best tennis today."
Ana Ivanovic: "She came up with some unbelievable shots and unbelievable angles. It was very hard to find the rhythm, because I felt like points were very short. It was either winner or unforced errors from both of us. That was a little bit disappointing and frustrating, because I tried to come up with longer rallies and everything. She's just the type of player that likes to hit the first shot and that's it. Obviously it's very disappointing, and I'm very, very sad because I really felt I could do well here. Sometimes losses make you more motivated to work harder, and that's definitely my aim."
Roger Federer after defeating fellow former champion Marat Safin: "It's special to play Marat, we go way back. I think we like playing each other. It doesn't matter who wins, it is always a good contest. I thought Marat started to play really well towards the end so I'm happy I got through, because it seemed like deja vu. I hope I can carry this form over and beat Tomas (Berdych) again."
Novak Djokovic after battling past Amer Delic in four sets: "He has one of the biggest serves out there, it was difficult for me to return and find rhythm. I have big respect for Amer, we have known each other a long time and he absolutely deserved to be here. He played great tennis today."
Amer Delic after police arrested two men and ejected another 30 people: "I'm really sad to hear about it. As I said a couple days ago, there's absolutely no place for that here. This is a tennis match. I don't know who started, who finished, or whatever. Either way, on both sides I'm sure there were guys that wanted to cause problems. It's like that everywhere in the world. Unfortunately, it happened here today. I'm sure some innocent people might have gotten injured. It's sad. I don't know what else I can say."
Fabrice Santoro on his Australian swansong: "I have been coming here since 1991, which is a long time. This is one of my favourite places and I have very special memories of Melbourne Park."
Marin Cilic on his straight sets win over 11th seed David Ferrer: "I would say that it was a good performance from me. At the beginning of the match he broke me in the second game. That I think woke me up a little bit, which was good for me. I reacted very well and broke him back again and I was in the game pretty good from that moment on. I think I have some more room to improve my game a little bit more, to hit the ball a little bit better. My serve wasn't the best today but I got away with it, mixing it up, serving very well at the crucial moments."
