Another day, another record broken for Novak Djokovic, as he dispatched Argentine Camilo Ugo Carabelli at the Miami Open. The 25-year-old put up a fight in the second set to take it to a tie-break, but Djokovic ultimately proved to be too strong, and teed up a fourth-round clash with Lorenzo Musetti. Djokovic is yet to drop a set in his first appearance at the tournament since 2019.

Novak Djokovic broke Rafael Nadal’s record in an accolade-laden career after his 6-1 7-6(1) victory over Camilo Ugo Carabelli at the Miami Open.
The 37-year-old booked his place in the fourth round of the competition with his 411th win at Masters 1000 events, moving him one ahead of former long-term adversary Nadal.
His reward is a match against Lorenzo Musetti, who set up a meeting with Djokovic following a 4-6 6-2 6-3 win over Felix Auger-Aliassime to book a fourth-round place for a second consecutive year.
Djokovic coasted through the first set in a mere 35 minutes, and broke the 25-year-old’s serve twice in the process.
However, the second was more trying after being taken to a tie-break after he broke back against the 24-time Grand Slam champion at 2-2.
Djokovic said after the match in quotes published by atptour.com: "I’m honoured to have another milestone, another record broken.
"There’s always something on the line, pretty much every time I play, and of course that motivates me to do well at tournaments."
This contest represented a potential banana skin for Djokovic against a player ranked 65th in the world, bearing in mind that all three of his defeats in completed matches this year have come against players ranked outside the top 20.
Lucky loser Carabelli had won 17 of his previous 24 matches in 2025, and reached consecutive semi-finals in Rio de Janeiro and Santiago.

Reflecting on the match in more detail, Djokovic added: "I started off really well, 6-1, very similar to the first match two days ago [won 6-0 7-6(1) v Rinky Hijikata].
"Things got complicated in the second. I broke his serve, he rebroke my serve, and then we were kind of going toe to toe. I had some chances at 4-4 but I think it was fair to take the second set to a tie-break. Then, like two days ago, a perfect tie-break. Great serving when I needed to, and overall just pleased to get through."
