Defending champion Jannik Sinner overwhelms Alex de Minaur to reach the final of the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals in Turin

Jannik Sinner surged into the final of the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals with yet another convincing win over Alex de Minaur.

The defending champion continued his dominance over the Aussie to move 13-0 up in their head-to-head as he posted a 7-5 6-2 success in one hour and 52 minutes.

The Italian will now meet Carlos Alcaraz or Felix Auger-Aliassime in Sunday’s showdown for the trophy after securing his 30th indoor hardcourt win in a row.

Both players had early opportunities to break, but as the first set developed, it was de Minaur who had to come up clutch to deny Sinner in the seventh and ninth games.

The second seed continued to press and finally broke for a 6-5 lead on his eighth opportunity overall with a rasping backhand down the line.

The reigning champion then served it out on his second set point to take a hard-fought one-hour and six-minute opener.

Sinner now had the bit between his teeth and ruthlessly broke again in the first game of the second set with the aid of wonderful counter-punched winners off both flanks.

There was no way back for the Aussie seventh seed as an irresistible Sinner broke again on his way to becoming the first man to reach the final without being broken since Novak Djokovic in 2018.

Sinner darts to the net to back up a sizzling forehand and guides away an opening volley.

The Italian blots his copybook with a loose forehand long after great defence from the Aussie but stays on course when the seventh seed fizzes a forehand wide.

The reigning champion then earns two match points with a super, deep volley to the corner and books his spot in a third straight final at this tournament on the second of them with a ruthless plus-one forehand.

De Minaur opens with a wide ace but squanders a 30-0 lead with a double fault that etches dismay and pain all of his face.

De Minaur belts out a hopeful ‘Come On’ as a big serve gets him to Pulp (30-30) after Sinner had crashed an almost effortless backhand winner down the line.

The Aussie fights hard in the following rally but a scorching crosscourt forehand forces the mistake and earns yet another break point.

Demon saves it with a timely ace down the T but a tired backhand into the net gives Jannik a second opportunity.

Sinner unleashes a barrage of forehands but drags one wide to fluff his lines and is then unfortunate to see the Aussie’s riposte to a sizzling return clip the tape and bounce over.

Alex then slams down an ace and gets a huge cheer from the Italian crowd. They appreciate his fight against such an incredible level from their favourite.

Sinner has broken his opponent’s resistance as he continues to unleash relentlessly.

Demon had fought so hard but he’s being overwhelmed now as the Italian backs up the double break with a hold to love.

Alex turns and looks relieved as Sinner’s lob drops just long at 15-15.

The Aussie bangs down an ace to move 40-15 up but Jannik unloads off both flanks once more and angles away a wrong-footing backhand volley to make deuce.

Jannik senses his moment and despatches a stonking forehand winner and it’s third time lucky as a scorching backhand to the baseline is just too good!

Sinner will now serve for the set.

De Minaur tries to up the ante by snaring the opening point on the Sinner serve with a sensational counter-punched, crosscourt backhand pass.

The second seed responds with a trio of massive serves with Demon flashing a Hollywood forehand way long in-between.

De Minaur looks in cruise-control at 40-0 but Sinner stops over-pressing and reels him in to force a couple of errors en route to deuce.

The Aussie can’t duck out of dodge and ends up skewing a backhand wide following a brutal rally to cough up a break point.

The seventh seed finally finds his first serve again to fizz away a plus-one forehand and force a return error.

He's on the back foot in the ensuing rally but keeps clawing the ball back form beyond his baseline and earns his reward when Jannik belts a backhand just long.

Sinner doesn’t dwell on the missed opportunities in Game 7 and puts together more hefty serving, an emphatic smash and a lethal one-two forehand punch en route to a routine hold to love.

Alex stares at the edge of the line to his left after Sinner catches a slither of it to cause a surprised error.

The Italian then presses with a raking crosscourt forehand and batters away at the Aussie’s defences to try and earn a couple of break points, but he blasts an overhead off the island to miss out at Pulp (30-30).

Demon’s supreme defence then briefly malfunctions as he drags a backhand long to cough up a break point.

Sinner can’t convert as he leans low to guide a forehand into the net after pulling his opponent out wide to his right.

The second seed attacks again and earns a second opportunity with a wonderful, wrong-footing backhand winner down the line.

It’s not be, however, as the seventh seed continues to show real resilience before delivering a wide ace to survive another lengthy service game.

Sinner gets his Mojo flowing with a couple of first serves but sees a high-bounce volley punished with a crosscourt backhand.

A wonderful 1-2 crosscourt punch via the backhand earns him game point but he slams another forehand into the net to prolong the examination of his serve to deuce.

The Aussie answers the question with a super, wide serve and is then relieved to come through when Sinner guns a makeable backhand return into the net.

Alex wins a sensational 22-shot rally, digging out a wonderful defensive lob and then chasing down Sinner’s backhand volley to jab the winner to the open court.

The Aussie is really finding great depth and variety early on here and forces the backhand error into the net before a flustered Sinner fizzes a plus-one forehand wide to offer triple break point.

Jannik slams a big first serve down the T to stave off one and Demon sees a second disappear when he guns a forehand low into the net.

The Italian comes up clutch again with an ace down the T and more big serving ensures he gets on the board and has still not been broken this week.
