SINNER OUTCLASSES DE MINAUR TO MAKE FINAL RETURN
Jannik Sinner surged into the final of the 2025 Nitto ATP Finals with yet another convincing win over Alex de Minaur.
The defending champion continued his dominance over the Aussie to move 13-0 up in their head-to-head as he posted a 7-5 6-2 success in one hour and 52 minutes.
The Italian will now meet Carlos Alcaraz or Felix Auger-Aliassime in Sunday’s showdown for the trophy after securing his 30th indoor hardcourt win in a row.
Both players had early opportunities to break, but as the first set developed, it was de Minaur who had to come up clutch to deny Sinner in the seventh and ninth games.
The second seed continued to press and finally broke for a 6-5 lead on his eighth opportunity overall with a rasping backhand down the line.
The reigning champion then served it out on his second set point to take a hard-fought one-hour and six-minute opener.
Sinner now had the bit between his teeth and ruthlessly broke again in the first game of the second set with the aid of wonderful counter-punched winners off both flanks.
There was no way back for the Aussie seventh seed as an irresistible Sinner broke again on his way to becoming the first man to reach the final without being broken since Novak Djokovic in 2018.

The Aussie regains the initiative with a forehand pass to pick off Jannik at the net and he avoids the breadstick as the Italian fizzes off the island on game point.

Sinner has been irresistible in this second set but this game proves to be his first lull in quite some time.
Demon takes advantage of his slip to rocket away a crosscourt forehand and the Italian then gives himself work to do with a miscue long off that wing.
An ace down the T halves the deficit and then de Minaur sinks to heels when he drills a loose forehand long.
Sinner earns game point with a scorching bounce smash from his own baseline but then drills a forehand long.
The second seed is made to work in a face-off at deuce and coughs up a break point with a very makeable volley wide.
The defending champion retorts with a wide ace and the serve does the heavy lifting from there as he moves to within a game of the final.

De Minaur belts out a hopeful ‘Come On’ as a big serve gets him to Pulp (30-30) after Sinner had crashed an almost effortless backhand winner down the line.
The Aussie fights hard in the following rally but a scorching crosscourt forehand forces the mistake and earns yet another break point.
Demon saves it with a timely ace down the T but a tired backhand into the net gives Jannik a second opportunity.
Sinner unleashes a barrage of forehands but drags one wide to fluff his lines and is then unfortunate to see the Aussie’s riposte to a sizzling return clip the tape and bounce over.
Alex then slams down an ace and gets a huge cheer from the Italian crowd. They appreciate his fight against such an incredible level from their favourite.

Alarm bells blare for Demon as he flashes a forehand wide at 30-15 and then faces up to another break point when Sinner produces a bit of magic with a crosscourt backhand pass on the stretch.
Once again Demon takes a big risk with a fizzing crosscourt forehand and earns his reward to get to deuce.
The Italian comes again with a leaping crosscourt forehand to rush an error wide but Demon slaps down a wide ace to cling on.
Jannik senses his moment and despatches a stonking forehand winner and it’s third time lucky as a scorching backhand to the baseline is just too good!
Sinner will now serve for the set.
