US swimmer Ryan Lochte and three others robbed at gunpoint

United States swimmer Ryan Lochte was robbed along with three others in Rio, the US Olympic Committe has confirmed.

Lochte, who was with three other members of the US Olympic swimming team at the time, had his taxi stopped by people posing as armed police.

Lochte later revealed the NBC the severity of the incident.

According to the statement, they demanded money and other personal belongings.

The US Olympic Committee initially denied the reports, but it has since been confirmed.

"I think they’re all shaken up. There were a few of them,” Ileana Lochte told USA Today.
