Kirstensen is planning a double-barreled assault on the Le Mans record book in 2005. After equaling Jacky Ickx's record of six career wins last year, the Dane is aiming not only for an unprecedented seventh title but also for the prestige of becoming the first driver in history to win six in a row.
Kristensen has been a singular force at the Le Mans 24 Hours, but the secret to his success, he says, is far from individual.
"Obviously this trophy brings back a lot of memories, very positive memories," Kristensen told Eurosport.
"But [the success] means that you have been a part of a winning team, a winning crew and a winning car. It means having the luck that one always needs to overcome Le Mans."
"The best way to enjoy a victory is to share the victory with the people who have played a big part in it."

"I think I have a very good opportunity," he says.
"I can drive with the Audi R8 again and we are American Team Champions... I don't feel any pressure."
"I have been part of a winning team six times and I think that speaks for itself."
