A dramatic night of action in Manchester saw Sweden take victory at the first Speedway of Nations semi-final.
Sweden topped the semi-final, finishing in first place with 38 points at Belle Vue Speedway on Tuesday evening.
Fredrik Lindgren led the Swedes with 22 race points in total, coming joint-first with Germany's Kai Huckenbeck. Jacob Thorsell added 16 points as the duo took home the win.
Poland came second, missing out on top spot by a single point with 37. Dominik Kubera scored 18, Bartosz Zmarzlik scored 11, and Maciej Janowski added eight.
Germany took third place, led by Huckenbeck's 22 points and supplemented by 11 from Norick Blodorn.
"I felt really good," Lindgren said." It's a team event and it's job done for Team Sweden, we've qualified for the final and that's the main thing.
"The win on the night is the cherry on top but the main thing was to get to the final."
Sweden's Thorsell took a nasty crash during one of the heats, but Lindgren was confident that his partner would be okay.
"I think he's okay," he added. "Obviously he will be a bit bruised tomorrow, a bit stiff probably, but we've got a couple of days to get him back on track."
"It's going good," Lindgren said on his partnership with Thorsell. "We were pretty clear what we wanted to do from the gate position and all that. We worked good today so we will see what we do for the finals.
"For myself, it will be easy recovery training and get some rest. I've been pretty busy with the Polish league, the English league yesterday and the Speedway of Nations here. I still have some pain from my disaster in Gorzow so I've got to get some rest."
Rounding out the results, Finland made a valiant effort to finish fourth with 23 points, with Italy coming fifth with 21, while France came sixth with 19 and Ukraine finished last with 16.
The second semi-final takes place on July 10 live on discovery+, with Australia, Denmark, Czech Republic, Latvia, USA, Slovenia and Norway all vying for a spot in the final.

discovery+ is the streaming home of the Olympic Games, and the only place you can watch every moment of Paris 2024 this summer.
