Japan boarder in hospital

Japanese snowboarder Yuka Fujimori was hospitalised after taking a whack to her head during training for the Vancouver Olympics.

The 23-year-old underwent brain scans and was given the all-clear after a gust of wind caused her to over-extend a jump, Japanese media reported.

Fujimori, who fractured a vertebra during training last December, still plans to enter the snowboard cross event which begins on Tuesday on Cypress Mountain, according to Japanese media.

Georgian luger Nodar Kumaritashvili died in a horrifying crash on Friday during his final practice run, casting a shadow over the opening ceremony.
