'Make sure that's switched off please' - Football alert interrupts Murphy-Wells match

There’s a lot of crossover in sports, and the Welsh Open served up an unwanted moment for the players when a match between Shaun Murphy and Daniel Wells was interrupted by the football.
Murphy and Wells were at the early stages of their clash, and fully focused on events on the table at Venue Cymru in Llandudno.
A fair few miles south, roughly 1,000 if you are interested, Barcelona were taking on Manchester United in the Europa League (we could get into a debate about how two giants of the game are scrapping it out in the second tier of European football, but that's for another place).
Things were heating up at the Nou Camp, as Manchester United had just taken a shock lead as the first frame was getting under way in Llandudno.
There was disappointment for those inside Venue Cymru who had set the game to record and were looking to avoid spoilers, as someone’s electronic device chirped up: “Barcelona 1-2 Manchester United, a goal.”
Wells stepped up off his shot and had a small smile on his face. We are seeking verification as to whether he is a Manchester United supporter.
Quick as a flash, referee Ben Williams burst into life: “Can you make sure that is switched off please.”
David Hendon on Eurosport commentary said: “Well the football came through, news from the Champions League, which I am sure is interesting to many, but we don’t want it to affect the players.”
We can forgive the doyen of snooker for thinking it was the Champions League rather than the Europa League. It was two giants of football, after all.
Spoiler alert, Manchester United and Barcelona played out an entertaining 2-2 draw. But not as entertaining as the snooker from Llandudno.
