Liam Pullen produced the first maximum of his fledgling career in the first round of UK Championship qualifying in Wigan on Saturday. The 20-year-old world No. 86 made 147 in the sixth frame of a 6-1 win over Kaylan Patel. It means last season's record of 15 maximum breaks has been equalled in the first four months of the season. It was also the 232nd 147 in the sport's modern history.

Liam Pullen celebrated the first 147 of his professional career as snooker's remarkable maximum scoring spree continued in UK Championship qualifying in Wigan.
The 20-year-old York potter, who only turned professional two years ago, achieved the landmark moment in the sixth frame of a 6-1 win over fellow English player Kaylan Patel at the Robin Park Leisure Centre on Saturday.
The break included an audacious double on the 15th red and Pullen celebrated in delight when he potted the final black.
Fan Zhengyi produced the first maximum of the campaign against Xu Si at the Championship League in Leicester on July 17, the first 147 of the 15 and counting recorded so far this season.
Ronnie O'Sullivan, Aaron Hill and Thepchaiya Un-Nooh have twice compiled 147s in this campaign with the record total from 2024/25 incredibly matched in only four months and six days.
Hill has also witnessed two other 147s, sitting in the opposite chair when Ali Carter (English Open) and Zak Surety (International Championship) weighed in with their own perfect clearances.

O'Sullivan celebrated a historic double against Chris Wakelin in the semi-finals of the ÂŁ2.3 million Saudi Arabia Masters in Jeddah in August, worth a whopping ÂŁ147,000 bonus and a share of the ÂŁ50,000 high break prize with Un-Nooh.
O'Sullivan became the first man in history to hit two maximums in the same session of a match, and extends his position as the leading 147-maker of all time with 17 since his iconic first against Mick Price at the 1997 World Championship, the fastest in history at five minutes and eight seconds.
Fifteen 147s made in under five months is seven more than the entire total for the 1980s and is over halfway to the 26 total witnessed in the 1990s.
Steve Davis famously made the first at the Lada Classic against John Spencer in January 1982, the six-time world champion's solitary competitive 147, with over half of the 232 running total witnessed in the past 15 years.
