UK Championship snooker recap - Mark Selby beats Judd Trump 10-8 to win title
Judd Trump defends his UK Championship title in the best-of-19 frame final today in York against fellow Englishman Mark Selby. Selby is a two-time champion here, winning in 2012 and 2016. The two will be fighting for a £250,000 prize and the delight of lifting a Triple Crown trophy in front of the home crowd. They will return at 7pm GMT tonight for the second session at the Barbican.

TRUMP 0-0 SELBY (54-47*)
Selby takes a super thin angle on the penultimate red, it shakes between the jaws for a second to groans from the crowd, before miraculously dropping in.
He pots the blue to get himself up the table for the last red, and the cue ball continues to roll on to knock the red into an even more favourable position. It's perfection from the Englishman.
TRUMP 0-0 SELBY (54-40*)
Selby lines up a triple plant, red, black, red. It's a perfect line and he sinks it into the left-corner pocket to start cutting the deficit between himself and Trump. We all know how good he is when he is let loose on the table.
But the red near the green they played minutes ago might be the saving grace for Trump, but for now he's picking off the rest of the reds.
TRUMP 0-0 SELBY (54-3*)
Not much on the table for Selby right now, he chooses to attempt a snooker. The green is on the right cushion with a red just beside it, and he makes an admirable effort.
Trump steps up and knocks the red behind the green to block off that option for Selby. A possible 83 left on the table still, but both players are playing cautiously now as we pass thirty minutes of play.
TRUMP 0-0 SELBY (54*-3)
Selby misses a long red and Trump takes the opportunity to score again. He plays the pink, which was respot onto the brown earlier, and picks up a handy six points to end his little run there.
It's a messy table, but plenty of points on the felt still.
TRUMP 0-0 SELBY (47*-3)
Fifth time lucky for Selby as he finally gets to sit down, his cue ball meets the red.
Trump will enjoy the haul of 12 he picked up from his lucky snooker, and he picks out a long red that sails into the left corner pocket.
TRUMP 0-0 SELBY (46-3*)
It's a fine safety from Selby to put the cue ball behind the green and pink. Then Trump gets a fantastic one of his own, he luckily catches the brown as the white travels up to the cushion to slow it down, and Selby is now snookered.
Two fouls as Selby's line is off on a red on the bottom cushion. He takes a third go at it, but he's miraculously found the gap between the red, and one a little above it.
Then the Barbican lets out yet another groan as he commits the same mistake.
TRUMP 0-0 SELBY (30-3*)
First foul of the day goes to Selby, the cue ball is behind the yellow and leaves him only a very thin angle on a red. He misses his first attempt, but makes it the second time around.
TRUMP 0-0 SELBY (26*-3)
Selby catches the pink as the cue ball runs on and he's now in a tricky position without a pot. He plays a safety and returns to his seat.
Nothing on for Trump.

Lovely positioning from the defending champ, but he puts a bit of pace on a red into the yellow corner pocket and it judders off the jaws to end his break. We've seen those shots being punished by the pockets here time and time again across the tournament so far.
Selby will try to narrow the deficit now.

Trump takes the first red of the day. It's a tight angle on the black, he lines it up a few times but ultimately decides to pot the long yellow up the table.
He's looking calm on the table right now.

A SENSATIONAL CENTURY TO TIE THINGS OFF
Selby took an early lead in his 35th match against Murphy, but the latter was determined to fight back. But a top form Selby cemented the win with a stunning 127 clearance, and he is off to his first UK final since 2016, when he beat Ronnie O'Sullivan for the title.
