The Swansea Arena plays host to the Snooker Shoot Out for the first time as the sport's most unpredictable event returns for the 2023/24 season. Chris Wakelin, who won the last edition of the event, was knocked out on Friday as the shot clocks and raucous crowds make sure the entertainment factor is at a maximum. Snooker’s unpredictable, rapid-fire event is back as the 2023 Shoot Out has begun.
Some of the sport's biggest names are in Wales at the Swansea Arena, but could be leaving as quickly as they arrived given the nature of the tournament.
The Shoot Out sees every match last a maximum of 10 minutes, with a shot clock of 15 seconds for the first five minutes and just 10 seconds for the last five.
With a baying crowd on their backs too, the pressure is well and truly on in one of the most entertaining competitions on the calendar.
Shaun Murphy thrilled the crowd as he made the first-ever 147 in the tournament's history.
Chris Wakelin is the defending champion, but after he was knocked out on Friday, several other players, including the likes of Champion of Champions winner Mark Allen and five-time ranking event winner Kyren Wilson, will be looking to snatch the crown.
Where is the 2023 Shoot Out?
The tournament will be played at the Swansea Arena for the first time, and starts on Wednesday, December 6 2023, finishing on Saturday, December 9.
