The snooker season ramps up a gear with the players heading to Asia for the Shanghai Masters between July 15-21. Ronnie O'Sullivan will be hoping to win an incredible fifth successive title in Shanghai, and is already by far the most successful player in the tournament's history. The Shanghai Masters returns as the world's best congregate at the Shanghai Grand Stage in China from July 15 to July 21.
Featuring the world's 16 best players, the Shanghai Masters has been a staple on the professional snooker circuit since 2007, returning last year after a four-year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Ronnie O'Sullivan is by far the most successful player at the tournament and he will be looking to add a record-extending sixth Shanghai Masters crown to his title haul when he returns to China.
The reigning champion will hope to defend his title and seek a fifth successive triumph at the Shanghai Grand Stage.

The 2024 Shanghai Masters takes place at the Shanghai Grand Stage from July 15 to 21.

WHAT IS THE FORMAT?
The 2024 Shanghai Masters runs from the first round which starts on July 15 to the final on July 21.
The tournament will feature 24 invited players, including the top 16 in the world rankings, the four highest-ranked Chinese players not in the top 16, and four wild cards.
The draw for the wild cards is made during the opening ceremony on July 14.
The top eight in the world receive byes into the 16, meaning O’Sullivan’s first match at the Grand Stage will be against either Zhang Anda or a wild card in the second round.
World champion Kyren Wilson will meet either Barry Hawkins or Zhou Yuelong, while Mark Williams could face Judd Trump if he wins his opening tie against a wild card.
