The 23-time Triple Crown winner was 3-1 up shortly after, making a visit of 86 as he looked to wrap up a quick win over his fellow Brit.
However, the world No. 2 kept his hopes of victory alive with a strong showing to win the fifth frame.
That only seemed to spur O'Sullivan on, as he made a run of 135 to go 4-2 up.
O'Sullivan wrapped up an emphatic victory with another century, producing a break of 112 to seal a 5-2 win.

O'Sullivan records dominant win over Bingham

O'Sullivan followed up his win against Wilson with a dominant 5-1 victory against Bingham, producing three centuries to dispatch his compatriot.
The world No. 24 cruised to victory in the opening frame to take a 1-0 lead.
Bingham could have made it 2-0 after a visit of 56 put him in a commanding position in the second, but The Rocket battled back with a half-century of his own to level the match at 1-1.
He took the lead in the contest for the first time in sensational style, producing a break of 134 for the second time today to storm into a 2-1 lead.
It was 3-1 just moments later after O'Sullivan pulled another century out of the bag.
He was on for a 147 maximum break in the fifth but broke down at 80, and had to settle for a 4-1 lead.
That meant O'Sullivan was just one frame away from victory, and he made no mistake as he wrapped up a commanding 5-1 win with a visit of 116.
