The Snooker 900 format is similar to the Shoot Out in that there is a shot clock, frames lasting a maximum of 15 minutes and a player gets ball in hand should an opponent foul.
O’Sullivan last appeared in the Shoot Out in 2020 and said he would never make another appearance after losing in the second round to Billy Castle, but he did revel in the Premier League format, which also featured a shot clock - winning the title 10 times.
And following his win over Brecel, O’Sullivan spoke of his love for the Snooker 900 format.
”I’m enjoying playing,” O’Sullivan said on Pluto TV. ”It is the first time in three years where I am confident in the way I am playing.
”After I beat Kyren [Wilson], I thought that is a good win and the same with Luca. They are both great players.
”I am the same as Luca, I just love this format. We have played a lot of snooker today but we are not here until 1/2 in the morning.
”I am enjoying playing. Win or lose, I am loving it.”
