Mark Williams ended the year on a high by claiming the trophy and an £80,000 first prize plus appearance money at the eight-player Macau Masters invitational event on Friday.
The three-time world champion completed a 9-6 final win over Jack Lisowski in the lucrative exhibition event with each player earning at least £35,000 for participating.
Lisowski entertained the sell-out crowd at the Wynn Palace with a 147 break in the fourth frame, but could not stop Williams claiming the trophy after the British Open champion earlier defeated Judd Trump (6-2) and Si Jiahui (6-3) in reaching the final.
Some media reports in Asia suggested up to £150,000 was on the line at the event making it a worthwhile trip for the leading figures in the sport, including world No. 1 Ronnie O'Sullivan, who lost 6-2 to Marco Fu in the quarter-finals.
"This has been fantastic, and I think every player wants to come back," said Williams. "Hopefully, this could be a regular event in the snooker calendar.”
Lisowski praised the tournament and said: "It’s probably one of the best weeks in my life."
Both men return to the UK for the start of the Masters at Alexandra Palace in London a week on Sunday with Lisowski opening the tournament against world champion Luca Brecel at 1pm and Williams facing Ali Carter at 7pm on Monday 8 January.
