Zhao Xintong's performances at the 2025 World Snooker Championship were described as "ridiculous" by Mark Allen, as the sporting world reacted to the Chinese potter's historic success.
Zhao made history when he became the first player from China and the first amateur in the Crucible era to clinch the world title.
The 28-year-old added a third ranking title and a second Triple Crown trophy to his collection after scooping the UK Championship in 2021 and the German Masters just over a month later.
Returning to Monday evening's final session with a 17-8 lead over three-time world champion Williams, Zhao conceded the first four frames to his Welsh opponent.
But Zhao would not be denied, sinking a sensational break of 87 to seal the world title.
One of the first to congratulate the newly-crowned champion was Mark Allen, who called Zhao's performances "ridiculous".
"Huge congratulations to Zhao," posted the former world No. 1 on X. "Ridiculous display of potting and calmness the whole event.
"This could really open up a lot more doors for our sport. Exciting times. Enjoy the celebrations."
Neil Robertson added his congratulations shortly afterwards.
"Congratulations, Xintong!" wrote the 2010 world champion. "Great effort from Mark who came through a gruelling half of the draw.
"It must be said it's going to be incredibly exciting to see what impact this will have on snooker in China!"
Defeated finalist Williams seemed to be taking the result well, as he posted several photos on social media of how he was spending his night - mostly with a few celebratory drinks - along with one photo of himself congratulating Zhao in his own unique way.
"Three years ago, Zhao Xintong beat me in the first round at the Crucible. We also shared the journey through the World IBSF Juniors - his talent stood out even then. I said he’d be World Champion within 5 years," added Welsh snooker player Jamie Clarke on social media.
Zhao will rise to No. 11 in the world rankings next season after pocketing the £500,000 winning pay cheque.
