World No. 1 Ronnie O’Sullivan has confirmed that he has withdrawn from the German Masters event.
The 48-year-old has enjoyed back-to-back success this month, securing an eighth Masters title at Alexandra Palace before winning the World Grand Prix with a comeback victory over Judd Trump in the final.
His Masters final win against Carter was followed by a public falling-out between the two finalists as their rivalry endured.
O’Sullivan has been critical about the demands of the current snooker schedule and writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, he explained he wanted to put his “health and wellbeing” first.
"Hi guys, I just want to let my fans in Germany know that sadly I've decided to withdraw from the German Masters next week," he wrote.
"I love the event and my fans in Germany but I have to make my health and wellbeing the priority.
"It's been a tiring and challenging season for me so far, despite how it may seem with the tournament wins, so hope you understand.
"I'm sorry I won't be there and I hope to see you all soon."
The German Masters begins on January 29.
