The English Open will return later this month as Judd Trump starts his bid to defend his crown at the Brentwood Centre. Trump defied the odds to battle back in both the semi-final and final last time out, lifting the trophy after a 9-7 triumph against Zhang Anda. The 2024 English Open will get underway on Thursday, September 12, with Round 3 set to start on September 16.

The biggest stars in snooker will descend upon the Brentwood Centre for the 2024 English Open later this month.
Judd Trump came out on top in 2023, but a mix of fresh and familiar faces will take to the table hoping to capture his crown this time around.
Trump battled back in a dramatic semi-final against John Higgins before coming from 5-1 down to beat Zhang Anda 9-7 in a heart-racing final last year.
It is sure to be another exciting seven days of snooker, and with that in mind, here is everything you need to know about the English Open.

WHEN IS THE ENGLISH OPEN?

The 2024 English Open will get underway on Thursday, September 12, with the final set to be held on Sunday, September 22.

WHO IS PLAYING AT THE ENGLISH OPEN?

Ronnie O'Sullivan, who won the English Open in 2017, will return as he bids to win his second title in Brentwood.
O'Sullivan will get his Open underway in Round 3, as will defending champion Trump and last year's losing finalist Anda.
Matthew Selt, Ryan Day and Robert Milkins will enter proceedings in Round 3, as will former world champion Stuart Bingham.
Fans will also have to wait until September 16 to see Ali Carter, Noppon Saengkham and three-time world champion Mark Williams.
Mark Selby is the only player to have won the English Open twice, and he will start his bid to win a third in Round 3.
Joe O'Connor will match his best performance at the English Open without potting ball after receiving a bye to Round 3, while Tom Ford will also feature.
Hossein Vafaei will look to improve on his quarter-final finish during the 2017/18 season, while Jak Jones and Stephen Maguire will also be in action.
Mark Allen will start his bid for a first English Open title in the third round, while last year's losing semi-finalist Higgins will also be back for more.

  • Thursday, September 12: Round 1 – Sessions start at 9am, 2pm, 7pm
  • Friday, September 13: Round 1 and Round 2 – Sessions start at 9am, 4.30pm, 7pm
  • Saturday, September 14: Round 2 – Sessions start at 9am, 2pm, 4.30pm, 7pm
  • Monday, September 16: Round 2 and Round 3 – Sessions start at 9am, 10am, 1pm, 1.30pm, 4.30pm, 7pm, 8pm
  • Tuesday, September 17: Round 3 – Sessions start at 10am 1pm, 1.30pm, 7pm, 8pm
  • Wednesday, September 18 to Sunday, September 22: Round 4 through to the final, dates and times TBA
