Ronnie O'Sullivan has the rare chance to claim a ranking title on home soil when he competes at the English Open in Brentwood next week. The seven-time world champion lifted the Steve Davis trophy in 2017 with a 9-2 final win over Kyren Wilson in Barnsley, but has also enjoyed other memorable moments at the Home Nations event, including the 15th record-extending 147 break of his golden career.

Ronnie O'Sullivan will open his quest for the £100,000 first prize at the English Open in his home county of Essex on Tuesday, September 17, live on Eurosport and discovery+.
The snooker GOAT will bid to join Judd Trump and Mark Selby as double winners of the Home Nations event that was first staged in Manchester eight years ago and won by China's Liang Wenbo, who defeated Trump 9-6 in the inaugural final.
O'Sullivan rampaged to the Steve Davis trophy a year later with a 9-2 final drubbing of Kyren Wilson in Barnsley.
Despite losing 6-1 to Mark Davis in the semi-finals in Crawley in 2018, O'Sullivan enjoyed another memorable moment when he compiled a record-extending 15th maximum break, the most recent of his career on the old green baize.
The final frame of a 4-0 win over Allan Taylor on October 17 in the second round saw him produce an immaculate contribution in which he was rarely out of position.
After slotting green, he turned to the crowd and said: "It's all gone quiet."
Watched by future world champion Luca Brecel on an outside table, O'Sullivan managed to nudge in a tough cut on a blue to left-middle before slamming in the pink to the opposite-centre bag.
The black disappearing prompted a huge roar of appreciation from the Crawley crowd.
It was the 143rd maximum of 203 so far compiled in the sport since fellow Essex icon Steve Davis produced the landmark first in 1982.
It remains the most recent competitive 147 break of O'Sullivan's 32-year career with his first maximum his world-record effort in five minutes and eight seconds against Mick Price at the 1997 World Championship.
He remains the most prolific maximum man of the modern era, two ahead of old rival John Higgins on 13.
O'Sullivan is due to meet He Guoqiang, Stuart Carrington or Wang Yuchen in his tournament opener in the last 64 of the English Open at the Brentwood Centre with the final on Sunday, September 22.
