Jimmy White's hopes of a spot in round three of the English Open came to an end when he was heavily beaten 4-1 by Joe Perry in Brentwood on Saturday. The 62-year-old avoided a whitewash defeat when he claimed the fourth frame, but Perry - who was prolific at times during the encounter - did enough to ease past the veteran and set up a clash with Chris Wakelin.

Jimmy White's English Open bid came to an end on Saturday as he suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Joe Perry.
The snooker veteran was beaten 4-1 by Perry, who struck a 97 break in the second frame before sealing victory.
A tie against world No. 24 Chris Wakelin awaits Perry in the third round.
The match started with a scrappy opening frame, which White had the chance to seal after racking up 55 points until he missed a red down a rail.
The pair exchanged visits with neither putting down a marker, until Perry gave White an opening.
'The Whirlwind' left the brown on the table, leaving just enough points for Perry to swoop in and steal the frame.
It was a contrasting second frame, with Perry making a break of 97 to double his lead and move halfway to victory.
White had another big chance to get on the board in the third frame, but once again passed up the chance to open his account.
He put together a run of 54 but was then left frustrated when he missed a straightforward red to the bottom right.
Perry returned to the baize and made the veteran pay, delivering a tidy break to wrap up the frame to move within one of victory in the best-of-seven clash.
White got on the board when he came out on top of a tight safety battle in the fourth frame, before expertly sinking the reaming colours to stay in the match.
But another dominant frame from Perry followed, as he closed out the win to set up a meeting with Wakelin on Monday.
On Saturday evening, Jamie Jones hit a break of 130 in his 4-0 victory over Joshua Thomond. He will meet Chinese star Zhou Yuelong in the next round on Tuesday.
Elsewhere, Jackson Page defeated Mostafa Dorgham 4-0, setting up a tough clash with Neil Robertson in the next round.
Thepchaiya Un-Nooh had little difficulty in his match against England's Oliver Sykes. The Thai player made breaks of 94 and 78 in the first two frames to go two clear, before winning the third frame 70-24. An excellent effort of 88 from Sykes pulled one back, but he could not prevent his opponent from clinching a vital fourth. He will play Pang Junxu next.
Veteran Marco Fu was knocked out following a 4-0 loss to David Grace, who faces Kyren Wilson in his next match, on Monday.
