Ding at one stage held a 5-2 lead but Brecel was able to respond and claw his way back into the match, to the extent that just one frame was in it at 5-4.
The 30-year-old Chinese star remained composed, however, and managed to close out the semi-final in impressive fashion.
In the other last-four clash, Wilson edged out Mark Allen in a very close encounter.
Wilson had led 5-4 but a nasty miss on a straightforward red allowed Allen back into the match.
The Englishman held his nerve to beat Allen and guarantee himself at least ÂŁ43,000 from the 19-frame final on Sunday.
