Murphy 2-2 Saengkham (31-60)
Saengkham takes the green, a long one to the left corner, but his positional play is poor.
The cue ball lands on the left cushion, tight on it, and leaving a very tricky brown, which is duly missed.
A few shots later, Murphy attempts an ambitious double on the brown and not only does it miss, but it goes over the pocket.
Saengkham cleans up, and needs the blue for the frame.
It's a long and straight one, but he strokes it home. Pink added. We are all square going into the break!

Murphy 2-1 Saengkham (31-42)
Murphy takes red and brown. Now its down to the colours. Yellow goes in, leaving a green to the left corner, but he misses that too.
After a whirlwind opening three frames, this one has become a tricky one.

Murphy 2-1 Saengkham (24-42)
One of the two remaining reds is on the top cushion, and McManus demoans a "quite serious mistake" as the cue ball goes too straight on it.
The recovery shot is perfect though, firing the red in and screwing back off the left cushion.
Would you believe it, though? He then misses the black off its spot!
"You cannot miss that, at any level, far less a massive quarter-final with the interval looming!"

Murphy 2-1 Saengkham (24-41*)
That is until he misses a straightforward pink to the right middle! Saengkham can barely believe his luck.
Red and black puts him back in front and leaves four more reds on the table. The first two of those are also taken with the black.

Murphy 2-1 Saengkham (*24-17)
McManus is exasperated at Saengkham's shot selection there, and he's "being made to suffer" now as Murphy plots his way around the table.
He quickly wipes out his deficit and, with things a bit more open now, can score heavily.

Murphy 2-1 Saengkham (2-17)
Even worse for Murphy, the black is left hanging over the left pocket. It's an absolute gimme.
But Saengkham doesn't need it, as after tidying away a red, he takes the pink, which in turn finally goes back on its spot.
The reds are not handily placed, and there will have to be some nudging and cannoning here and there.
And an error duly comes when attempting to move some, but leaving the white behind the pink, snookering himself on the black.
Big green coming up - and missed.

Murphy 2-1 Saengkham (2-9)
The first three frames of this fascinating clash have breezed by. Not the case with the fourth.
There are 12 reds left on the table and 11 off them are to the right of the middle of the table.
Two are on the top cushion, one on the right.
No wonder Saengkham takes a very long time over a safety, before eventually pushing one towards the cushion and sending the cue ball up behind the green.
It's not tucked away enough to prevent the pot, though. Murphy sinks it, then misses the black off the near jaw with a tricky one along the top cushion.

Murphy 2-1 Saengkham (0-9*)
A few shots later and Murphy is attempting a very tricky red, which he misses by a considerable distance.
There is worse news to come though, as the white comes back up to the top end of the table and leaves Saengkham with an easy enough starter.
The 34-year-old can only add the yellow though, before playing safe with a one-cushion roll-up to a red on the top cushion.

Murphy 2-1 Saengkham (0-6)
An actual safety battle has ensued at the start of frame four - a rarity for Saengkham, and it leaves a somewhat strange looking table, with 12 of the 15 red to the right of the middle of the table.
Eventually, though, Murphy makes an error. The Thai has a clear path to pot one to the corner.
He adds the blue, but leaves himself high on the next red and misses.

Murphy 2-1 Saengkham (63-47)
Murphy cleans up the yellow from distance though.
He needs up to and including the pink and duly cleans up.

Murphy 1-1 Saengkham (43-47)
He also angles the cue ball across the table to get in behind the remaining red. "Brilliant," says McManus.
The pot is still very, very tough, but it wriggles home.
Now; a tricky black. The white is close to the cushion, and that obviously impacts him somewhat, as the object ball stays up.

Murphy 1-1 Saengkham (43-46*)
Sanegkham's game is just as quick and aggressive as Murphy and in double-quick time, he has halved the deficit thanks to two blacks and a pink.
There are four reds left on the table now. Two are just below the pink spot, and he nicely tidies them away, before attempting to disturb one on the left cushion.
It does not quite go to plan, but he just about has the room to stroke the other into the right middle, and holds for the pink. In it goes, and he's into the lead
07:43
07:43
Murphy 1-1 Saengjham (43-8*)
He does eventually miss a black though, so things come to a halt at 43, and allowing Saengkham to come to a very open table with a chance to get back into it.

07:43
Murphy 1-1 Saengkham (*42-0)
Murphy could be going in for a very quick kill here.
"I've never seen him play this relaxed, I don't think," says McManus.
The Magician is breezing his way around the table, barely even having to think about what shot is coming next.
"It doesn't get any better than the way he's playing, not to me," adds the Scot, before describing a long blue to the yellow pocket as "frightening."

Murphy 1-1 Saengkham (*10-0)
Murphy is absolutely flying at the moment, as he gets frame three started in earnest with a superb long red to the left corner.
The blue follows, then another tricky cut into the corner. Green added, off which he swings the cue ball round into the pack.
Things are looking very handy for him now.

And so we are all square after two frames as Murphy registers a quickfire 47 before missing a tough yellow to level things up.

Murphy 0-1 Saengkham (*87-5)
"That's a sensational bit of cueing" lauds McManus as Murphy pots a long red to the right corner from Saengkham's safety.
That basically takes him to the winning line in the frame.
He still needs a black, but that goes down, and now he just wants to tidy away anything that's left on the table. He's doing that very quickly.
