THAT'S US DONE FOR TONIGHT
Join us again at 12.30pm BST tomorrow and we'll do it all again.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Lewis Ullah 3-2 Manasawin Phetmalaikul
- Pang Junxu 0-1 Mark Selby
- Sanderson Lam 1-0 Jak Jones
KYREN WILSON BEATS JULIAN LECLERCQ 4-0
He meets Duane Jones next.
WILSON 3-0 LECLERC (76-0)
And to underline the point, he strokes home a lovely rest-pot that was harder than either he missed. Can he finish with a ton?
WILSON 3-0 LECLERC (51-0)
Kyrizzle removes more reds, mainly with blacks, and he's moving on.
WILSON 3-0 LECLERC (21-0)
Another Kyren miss with the rest, then Julian gets close with a long one, leaving the white up the table. There's a lot of work to do, but when the youngster returns to the table, if he does, I suspect it'll be close to curtains. He's a much better player than we've seen tonight.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Lewis Ullah 2-2 Manasawin Phetmalaikul
- Pang Junxu 0-0 Mark Selby
- Sanderson Lam 0-0 Jak Jones
WILSON 3-0 LECLERCQ
Julian is really struggling; I hope he finds a way of finding his best game.
WILSON 2-0 LECLERCQ (56-12)
Kyren botches a red to the yellow so Julian retuurns 52 behind, 43 available. It feels like he's given up hope in this frame, another poor shot allowing the Warrior back to the table.
WILSON 2-0 LECLERCQ (56-12)
A dreadful shot from Julian, leaving a gift for Kyren when all he needed to do was send a red up the table. Instead he looks to land the white on the side, misses, and that is going to be 3-0.
WILSON 2-0 LECLERCQ (43-12)
Kyren's cue-ball control isn't the strongest part of his game, but he's a fine single-ball potter and finds two gooduns to sustain his break. He can't keep at it, though, so plays safe with three reds between black and top cushion; Julian rolls in a different one, but a poor pink means that's the end of the scoring.
WILSON 2-0 LECLERCQ (18-5)
Kyren sinks a long starter but can do little more, then Julian, in for the first time in half-an-hour, jawses a pressure-pink. Trouble.
WILSON 2-0 LECLERCQ (11-0)
From close to the bottom cushion, Kyren finesses home a lovely starter, and a nice second red earns a well-judged cannon on the black. His next effort, though, is poor, so he tries a plant with safety in mind, and just as well.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Barry Hawkins 1-4 Liam Davies
- Bulcsu Revesz 4-3 Ali Carter
- Lewis Ullah 2-2 Manasawin Phetmalaikul
WILSON 2-0 LECLERCQ
Julian isn't at it tonight, and if he's not careful this could be over quickly.
WILSON 1-0 LECLERCQ (61-12)
Kyren misses with the rest but Julian then misses twice, by miles – and the second time, the choice of shot is very poor too. Chance for Kyrizzle to finish the frame...
WILSON 1-0 LECLERCQ (56-12)
Kyren has two goes at cannoning reds, missing both, but Julian ignores a snoookering opportunity, misses his pot, and hands Kyren a table that's in better nick than when he left it.
WILSON 1-0 LECLERCQ (42-12)
Kyren quickly builds a lead, but there are a few tougher reds to come – he'll need a cannon or two to get them gone.
WILSON 1-0 LECLERCQ (8-12)
Bulcsu Revesz, a Hungarian teenager, has beaten Ali Carter, thrice Crucible finalist; great stuff. Kyren flukes a great safety, forcing Julian to try potting his way out of it. He can't, and the way the balls are, this looks a lot like 2-0.
WILSON 1-0 LECLERCQ (0-12)
Kyren misses and leaves a plant he couldn't get at; Julian misses that, careers into the pack and leaves ... nothing? We're back playig safety, but there are a lot of open reds so I doubt it'll be for long.
WILSON 1-0 LECLERCQ (0-12)
Kyren goes at a long red and misses, leaving a dolly for Julian, who knows how to pot balls. There aren't many loose ones, colours included, and he soon fails to get on to a colour so plays safe.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Barry Hawkins 1-3 Liam Davies
- Bulcsu Revesz 3-3 Ali Carter
- Lewis Ullah 2-1 Manasawin Phetmalaikul
WILSON 1-0 LECLERCQ
Kyren can't convert to a ton, but he'll take an emphatic 1-0.
WILSON 0-0 LECLERCQ (69-0)
This is a very solid opening from Kyrizzle, and a strong message to Julian, who now needs a snooker.
WILSON 0-0 LECLERCQ (32-0)
Kyren sorts a starter then lays a snooker, which allows him back to the table to pot. He's got so much confidence in himself – evenbefore he won the worlds he was certain he was going to at some point, and now he has, he's got a sense of wellbeing and relaxation that wasn't there before.
OFF WE GO AGAIN
COMING UP NEXT
- Kyren Wilson v Julien Leclercq
AROUND THE TABLES
- Barry Hawkins 1-2 Liam Davies
- Bulcsu Revesz 3-2 Ali Carter
- Lewis Ullah 1-1 Manasawin Phetmalaikul
SHAUN MURPHY BEATS IAN BURNS 4-0
He applauds the crowd, greatest showman that he is, and meets John Higgins next, this tournamewnt featuring a free, unseeded draw in which anyone can face anyone.
Murphy 3-0 Burns (66-66)
Just as Stephen says beware the double-kiss, Ian gets the double-kiss. Black to left-middle for the match...
Murphy 3-0 Burns (66-66)
Shaun leaves a thin brown to the green; Ian clips it home so it's blue, pink and black for a respot ... and here it comes
Murphy 3-0 Burns (66-44)
Shaun sinks yellow but doesn't get on green, brown in the road. Or does he? A crouch, a squint, and in it slides, the lead 22 with 22 left. And, though a taxing brown is narrowly missed, second prize is a snooker; Ian escapes well, still in the match – just.
Murphy 3-0 Burns (62-44)
And looking to get on it, he misses the yellow. So hoe for Ian yet...
Murphy 3-0 Burns (55-44)
I say that, but the green, which Shaun needs, is on the baulk cushion. So hope for Ian yet...
Murphy 3-0 Burns (30-44)
Lovely long red from Ian, tickled home, but we've seen a few of those tonight, just without much back-up. Let's see how he goes here ... and before I can even hit return, he misses to left corner and that will surely be the match.
Murphy 3-0 Burns (30-37)
Shaun strokes a nasty blue to the yellow, is beautifully on the next red, effective match-ball ... and he sends it into the knuckle! But oh Ian. Oh mate. He cuts thinly to left corner, too softly, leaves it over the bag ... and somehow Shaun catches the first red not the second! I didn't see that coming, i must say, but when Ian goes at it, he lands on the top rail so has no choice but to play safe. Plus side, he's still in the match.
Murphy 3-0 Burns (10-36)
It takes a while but eventually Ian leaves one and, given the reds that are available, this looks like curtains.
Murphy 3-0 Burns (0-36)
Not really. He runs out of position with a handy but not definitive lead, the fear that Shaun wins the imminent safety exchange and finishes the match.
Murphy 3-0 Burns (0-17)
Again, Ian steers home a fine starter; can he make it count this time?
AROUND THE TABLES
- Barry Hawkins 1-1 Liam Davies
- Bulcsu Revesz 0-2 Ali Carter
- Lewis Ullah 0-1 Manasawin Phetmalaikul
Murphy 3-0 Burns
A 105 takes Shaun one away.
Murphy 2-0 Burns (83-0)
Frame secure, Shaun misses a cannon on three reds but going back at them the other way, finds a plant into the middle and he looks certain to turn this into a ton.
Murphy 2-0 Burns (57-0)
Shaun doezs the necessary, and though in comms Dave notes that Ian missed a pink when set in frame one, ultimately the gulf in class between the two is significant.
Murphy 2-0 Burns (38-0)
Each man misses a red and Shaun capitalises on Ian's effort, the black available to both corners. A recovery pot to the green keeps the break going, and though he'll need to crack the pack soon, this is a decent chance to forge further in front.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Barry Hawkins 1-1 Liam Davies
- Bulcsu Revesz 0-2 Ali Carter
- Lewis Ullah 0-1 Manasawin Phetmalaikul
Murphy 2-0 Burns
Yeah, Ian has a problem because Shaun looks really comfy out there.
Murphy 1-0 Burns (66-17)
Shaun's potting nicely, the balls all disappearing into the middles of the pockets. Then he nudges the pack, is on one to right corner, and he really should secure the frame from here, which he does.
Murphy 1-0 Burns (28-17)
In comms, Stephen thought it might be end of frame, but Shaun soon runs out of position and we're back playing safety. But soon enough he's in again – though he'll need to break what's left of the cluster to get over the line in the frame.
Murphy 1-0 Burns (9-17)
Nice starter to right corner from Ian and a good cue-ball means he's on the black, a nice little cannon when potting it releasing a couple more reds. But playing with topspin not screw takes him a little out of position, meaning a nasty cut-back black which he thinks about for a while because if he misses it, it might mean the frame. And though it makes sense to take it on - he's in against a far superior player – he leaves it on the lip, handing Shaun an opportunity to do damage.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Barry Hawkins 0-0 Liam Davies
- Bulcsu Revesz 0-1 Ali Carter
- Lewis Ullah 0-0 Manasawin Phetmalaikul
Murphy 1-0 Burns
Shaun pots the final red, a few more balls besides, and he's in front.
Murphy 0-0 Burns (67-21)
Ian needs three snookers when Shaun misses a red down the rail; he returns to the table perhaps to get some time on it as much as anything.
Murphy 0-0 Burns (46-21)
Shaun builds a lead but has only one loose red left, meaning he'll need, after checking for a plant, an angle on his next colour to break the pack. He does so off the pink, sends the next ball to left-centre, and he's looking very nice.
Murphy 0-0 Burns (8-21)
There aren't many players I've not seen before in the course of doing this job but I don't think I've had the pleasure of Ian, an iron-man doer who's in first after Shaun errs and cueing nicely. Of course, as I type he misses a pink he shouldn't and, looking at the table, it's going to cost him.
AND AWAY WE GO
Our main-table match is Shaun Murphy v Ian Burns.

AROUND THE TABLES
- Ding Junhui 3-4 Aaron Hill
- Ryan Day 1-0 Louis Heathcote
JUDD TRUMP BEATS ROBERT MILKINS 4-1
He misses a black on 81, but he's through to round two in 51 minutes and after last week's aberration, he'll want to remind everyone how things are this.
TRUMP 3-1 MILKINS (65-0)
A black then a red for the match and Judd bins them; now it's all on the maxi, the reds all nicely located but well above the black spot.
TRUMP 3-1 MILKINS (49-0)
Judd caresses a fine red into right-middle and that's seven red-blacks.the balls are lovely too, and our man stands on 999 career tons. COME ON JUDD!
WE'RE RIGHT OVER TO TABLE ONE
Where Judd Trump leads Robert Milkins 3-1.
MARK ALLEN BEATS GARY WILSON 4-3
He made hard work of that but Gary Wilson is a fine player, so.
ALLEN 3-3 WILSON (66-0)
Mark misses a red so Garrance returns to the table needing four snookers. Good luck with that, old mate.
ALLEN 3-3 WILSON (66-0)
Yup, Mark eliminates another blue, pink and black still engaged, and this match is over. Whatever we say about his form, he knows how to win a snooker match.
ALLEN 3-3 WILSON (48-0)
Or not. Gary leaves Mark another chance and, given the lead, I'd expect him to finish this here.
ALLEN 3-3 WILSON (32-0)
Mark runs out of position so plays safe with a reasonable lead, and we might be commencing yet another marathon.
ALLEN 3-3 WILSON (26-0)
It's with the blue for now, Mark taking these calmly. But, of late, he's missed balls he shouldn't, when he shouldn't, so there are no guarantees he converts this start into something telling. But as balls disappear, the table gets easier.
ALLEN 3-3 WILSON (4-0)
Left nor to left corner, Mark decides he has to take it on and drives right into the heart of the pocket. But with pink and black tied up, he's work to do, either liberating them, with the blue, or both.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Gong Chenzhi 4-3 Tom Ford
- Ding Junhui 3-3 Aaron Hill
- Robert Milkins 1-2 Judd Trump
ALLEN 3-3 WILSON
The safety in this match has been very good, the rest not so much. Gary levels the match and the decider is coming up.
ALLEN 3-2 WILSON (36-74)
Hammering down the black, Gary misses the jaw that he hopes will keep him where he wants to be, but a fine pot to middle recovers the situation and this is going all the way.
ALLEN 3-2 WILSON (36-28)
Gary quickly closes the gap, but there are four reds close to the side rail and blocking each other, so the clear-up isn't assured.
ALLEN 3-2 WILSON (36-10)
Buthe soon runs out of position, taking on a plant that's out of line with a big difference between the two balls. The look on his face, I don't think he expected to pot that, it was borne of frustration with himself, and though he screws back to baulk with safety in mind, there's a starter down there for Gary...
ALLEN 3-2 WILSON (1-0)
Could this be curtains? Mark gets in and, with the balls are they are, might just finish the match at this visit.
ALLEN 3-2 WILSON (12-4)
Full disclosure: I nip for a drink between frames, somehow smash my large jar holding green juice, mess and glass everywhere, so do a minor clear-up before reutnrning to see our players playing safety.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Mark Williams 1-4 Rory Thor
- Gong Chenzhi 3-3 Tom Ford
- Ding Junhui 3-3 Aaron Hill
- Robert Milkins 0-2 Judd Trump
ALLEN 3-2 WILSON
After nearly 58 minutes, Mark goes one away.
Allen 2-2 Wilson (67-62)
Looking for a thin contact from close to it, Gary misses the brown entirely, then leaves a cut-back clip to left-middle; Mark finds it, narrowly avoids going in-off, and lands the wrong side of the blue, so lays a snooker behind the pink, then Gary hits, but leaves.
Allen 2-2 Wilson (59-62)
Of course, the reason it's like this is because both players are playing excellent safety.
Allen 2-2 Wilson (59-62)
Two of the game's best potters, not potting. The brown remains tabled.
Allen 2-2 Wilson (59-62)
The brown is on the knuckle of middel so Gary gets behind it, hoping to drop it in ... but it doesn't go. The chase is on! And immediately, Mark leaves it on, only for Gary to refuse the opportunity and Mark to turn down the chance to pot it.
Allen 2-2 Wilson (59-52)
Or not! Looking to develop the brown, the only safe ball, he misses the final red! Chance for Gary!
Allen 2-2 Wilson (52-51)
Oh Gary. He narrows the gap to one via snooker, Mark needing four goes to hit, only to play a stinker so intense it probably means end of frame.
Allen 2-2 Wilson (48-33)
Gary nicks one into right corner but the remaining reds aren't coveniently located so he closes the gap but can do more in what is a second straight 30-minute plus frame. Meantime we learn that the champ is out, Rory Thor cleansing Mark Williams 4-1.
Allen 2-2 Wilson (48-20)
Mark rus out of position and returns to his seat shaking his head, despite having recorded his highest run of the match.
Allen 2-2 Wilson (8-20)
What?! Gary undercuts a straightforward pink to right middle and Mark leaps out of his chair like a salmon on a pogo stick; he nows he should this frame from this position.
Allen 2-2 Wilson (0-6)
We begin frame five with a(nother) protracted safety exchange, but a poor one from Mark leaves Gary with a wide choice of tricky pots; he takes his time before selecting one and dropping it down left-middle. This is a chance!
AROUND THE TABLES
- Mark Williams 0-3 Rory Thor
- Gong Chenzhi 2-1 Tom Ford
- Ding Junhui 2-1 Aaron Hill
Allen 2-2 Wilson
Good work from Gary, who rebounds from 2-0 down with a quick kill and a 30-minute endurance test.
Allen 2-1 Wilson (7-61)
I apologise. Gary works his way through a succession of infelicitously located balls and this is now a best of three.
Allen 2-1 Wilson (7-39)
It's Gary who gets in next, though an early, underhit red to middle almost refuses to drop. i don't think he can seal the frame at this visit, but he can build a useful lead.
Allen 2-1 Wilson (7-14)
Not for long. Tremendous red from Mark to left corner ... but he too misses a black he shouldn't and shortly afterwards, Gary gets away to the middle then quickly runs out of position, the table not easy.
Allen 2-1 Wilson (6-1)
Oh Gaz. He misses black to right-middle and we're back playing safety.
Allen 2-1 Wilson (6-1)
After a long period of safety, Mark goes hard at one to left corner and misses, leaving a simple starter for Gary. The table, though, is not especially invinting so he's work to do.
Allen 2-1 Wilson (6-0)
Mark rams a tremendous starter to right corner but can only profit to the tune of six, missing a red he shouldn't and get lucky with the run.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Mark Williams 0-2 Rory Thor
- Gong Chenzhi 1-0 Tom Ford
- Ding Junhui 2-0 Aaron Hill
Allen 2-1 Wilson
A run of 78 and Gary halves the deficit. He's in the match.
Allen 2-0 Wilson (0-59)
Much better from Gal – or maybe he's a Gaz – compiling the first half-ton of the match. But can he convert it? I should also note that, on table one, in the match I assumed I'd be watching, the defending champ Mark J Williams is trailing Rory Thor 0-2.
Allen 2-0 Wilson (0-19)
Just what Gary needs, a simple starter. With plenty of reds available, this is a big visit, and I'd go as far to say if he can't make something significant from it, he's going to lose.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Mark Williams 0-2 Rory Thor
- Gong Chenzhi 1-0 Tom Ford
- Ding Junhui 2-0 Aaron Hill
Allen 2-0 Wilson
I fear for Gary, who needs to sort himself sharpish.
Allen 1-0 Wilson (59-6)
I was susprised Mark lost to Chris Wakelin last week, not because I don't rate Wakelin - I do - but because he played really well in the two previous rounds. He runs out of postion here, though, playing safe with a handy lead before warming his hands around a mug; we've seen this before, so it must be chilly in the arena – though I think he's also someone who feels the cold. Anyhow, Gary leaves him an easy starter and this'll be 2-0.
Allen 1-0 Wilson (16-6)
That, though, sis the thing with Gary: he knows he's good, so when he isn't he gets down on himself. Mark, meanwhile, knows how to win by any means necessary and he's compiling nicely now.
Allen 1-0 Wilson (2-6)
Left a starter to right-middle, Mark sees it away but needlessly runs out of position, nuzzling up behind the green instead. But it yields no advantage, Gary escaping then nailing a long starter to bump the pack off the blue ... only to miss the next ball to the centre. He can't get going and his body language tells the full story if his displeasure; I don't imagine he's any the gladder when Mark gets away again.
AROUND THE TABLES
- Mark Williams 0-1 Rory Thor
- Gong Chenzhi 0-0 Tom Ford
- Ding Junhui 1-0 Aaron Hill
Allen 1-0 Wilson
Gary will know he shou;d've taken that frame by clearig up the first chance he got. But he didn't, so here he is.
Allen 0-0 Wilson (46-47)
For some reason our non-Eurosport coverage goes for a break, returning to see Mark lay a snooker with one red left. It helps earn him a shot at a longun, he drains it, and that'll see him take the frame.
Allen 0-0 Wilson (33-47)
Mark gets down to four reds left but can't get at a pot, so plays a poor safety, doing well to get cover so Gary can't get away to middle. He does, though, float one into the corner then slides home a green, and he has a decet angle to get at the two balls remaining on the side ... but he cannot.
Allen 0-0 Wilson (17-36)
Gary misses a red to right corner but when Mark looks to punsh, he carelessly goes in-off. No matter: he escapes a snooker behind the pink, then gets in and gets to work. There are, though, three reds on the side rail so there's plenty of it to do.
Allen 0-0 Wilson (8-31)
Oh, a miss from Gary allows Mark to the table, but he soon runs out of position and plays safe.
Allen 0-0 Wilson (0-21)
Gary is in quickly, opening the reds and immediately looking good to make a frame-winning contribution. He's a really good player, so a brutal first-round draw for Mark, but for the rest of us, this matchup is great news.
OH!
I thought we were going to be on Mark J Williams v Rory Thor, but in fact it's Mark Allen v Gary Wilson, so here we go.
