Shoot Out recap - Late replacement Alfie Burden wins first ranking title with resounding victory over Stuart Bingham in Blackpool

Late call-up and amateur Alfie Burden was crowned on the last day of the 2025 Shoot Out after a stunning 63-8 win over Stuart Bingham. The event returned to Blackpool Tower Circus for the first time since 2015, and with both legends and young stars competing over four days of fast-paced, one-frame all-or-nothing play, it was a sensational one to watch.

SUPER SUB BURDEN CLAIMS EARLY BIRTHDAY PRESENT OF £50,000 AND SHOOT OUT TROPHY
Alfie Burden defeated 2015 world champion Stuart Bingham 63-8 for his first ranking title in a tournament he was not even planning to be playing in four days ago.
The amateur player was called up on Wednesday after Ali Carter’s same-day withdrawal, cancelling his weekend birthday plans and making the journey from a swimming pool in London to Blackpool Tower Circus.
There, he would beat David Lilley and Ishpreet Singh Chadha to reach the final day of the tournament, when he would dump out then title favourite Gary Wilson.
He continued on later in the day with wins against Liam Highfield, Zachary Richardson, and Noppon Saengkham to reach the final.
Bingham took a small lead to briefly block Burden. But the Londoner dug his heels in and picked out a sensational red to start his dominance over the frame.
The former world champion barely got a look in on the table as Burden climbed higher and higher over the 10 minutes, and climb joyously he did onto the table after Bingham came in for the handshake and a hug.
It was a dream tournament for the 49-year-old, who took the £50,000 prize and his first ranking title, and he will now have double reason to celebrate as the clock strikes 12.
He said to TNT Sports: "I'd like to thank all my family and friends for all the belief they've had in me. This is a special moment and I'm going to cherish it."

ALFIE BURDEN TO TNT SPORTS: ‘I’VE HAD ENOUGH OF PLAYING IN SNOOKER CLUBS!’
When I got my chance, I didn’t fancy missing. I know what a great player Stuart is, I’d rather miss that red and get beat than not go for something, and I thought, ‘I’m gonna smash the living daylights out of this.’ I’m hoping the main thing about winning this is it gets me back on the Tour on the one-year list, because I’ve had enough of playing in snooker clubs!

CONFETTI RAINING DOWN
Alfie Burden has to be soaking it all in as London Calling blares around the hall, he raises the trophy high as the confetti comes down around an emotional Burden.
STUART BINGHAM ON ALFIE BURDEN'S WIN TO TNT SPORTS:
It's written in the stars, alfie getting a phone call in his speedos. Unbelievable, well done to him and happy birthday for tomorrow. He fully deserved it.

BINGHAM (7-29*) BURDEN
Burden sinks a fantastic red! He's playing very well positionally now, undeterred despite Bingham's early points.
Five minutes to go.
BINGHAM (7-0*) BURDEN
A spot of luck for Burden, he gets a double kiss on his safety but the angle on the red is wrong.
Bingham picks out a fantastic shot in the pack, and sinks the blue too. But he takes his next red with way too much pace and Burden gets a chance!
BINGHAM (1*-0) BURDEN
An ooh from the crowd as Bingham comes close to potting the cue ball, it comes off the near jaw of the middle pocket.
Burden plays a safety, and Bingham scoops up a solitary red off his shot with a safety of his own after.

BINGHAM VS BURDEN
Today has been a thorough showing of how far experience will take you, as it is Stuart Bingham and Alfie Burden who meet at the table for the final of the 2025 Shoot Out.
Will it be the former world champion, or an early birthday present for the late replacement?
SAENGKHAM (14-79*) BURDEN
Burden's lead is stretching, he pots the blue and gets a gentle cannon on the reds, it's absolutely perfect.
He can relax now as he hits 64, and all he is doing now is practicing ahead of his head to head with Stuart Bingham later.
He finally misses a red, and Saengkham comes out to congratulate the super sub!
SAENGKHAM (14-44*) BURDEN
Five minutes left on the clock, Burden goes on the break again. This time, he plays on the black to really pull into a solid lead now.
SAENGKHAM (14-6*) BURDEN
Beauty from Burden! He sinks the long red to applause, but can't get the brown to keep the break going.
But good news for Burden fans, Saengkham misses one to allow Burden back on the table, and this time he gets the brown.
It ends there with a safety.
