Finns sweep large hill

Finn Matti Hautamaeki took first place in day one of World Cup ski jumping in Zakopane, Poland with an overall score of 274.3 points. Fellow Finns, Tami Kiuru and Janne Ahonen took second and third respectively.

Czech jumper Jakub Janda maintained his lead in the World Cup 81 points ahead of Ahonen who made valuable ground on the Czech leader.
Saturday's winner, Hautamaeki caught Andreas Kofler, who also had a good day placing fifth, to gain parody in 12th position.
The large hill competition started off with Hautamaeki jumping out to the lead in the first round with a score of 138.1. Janda started the second round 12th after receiving an overall score of 121.8 points.
The Polish crowd went wild when local boy Adam Malysz took the lead with just five jumpers left.
After a scramble at the finish in which the lead changed hands three times, it was Hautamaeki who took first place. In the second round he jumped 131.5m earning himself a second round score of 136.2.
