After Saturday's K120 event was cancelled altogether due to unsuitable weather conditions in the German resort of Titisee-Neustadt, organisers decided to go ahead with Sunday's competition; however, the unreliable skies only allowed jumpers one effort before wet snow and wind marred the second round.
Twenty-seven-year-old Kiuru, bar far the best with a first round tally of 145.8 points, took advantage of the good early conditions to earn the first World Cup victory of his career.
Austria's Andreas Widhoelzl finished second with a jump of 133.5m, which earned him 140.8 points from the judges, while another Finn, Janne Ahonen, took third with a jump of 133m.
Despite finishing outside the top 10, Poland's Adam Malysz managed to retain his overall World Cup lead with 211 points.
