Paris 2024: Team GB's Sky Brown deemed fit to take part in skateboard park finals after dislocating shoulder

Team GB’s Sky Brown has dislocated her shoulder but is still set to compete in the women’s skateboard park finals on Tuesday after Team GB doctors deemed her fit. The 16-year-old won bronze in Tokyo 2020 but her tilt at the top step of the podium had been thrown into doubt after injuring her shoulder on Sunday before flying out to Paris. "This one was really scary," said Brown.

Great Britain medal hope Sky Brown, 16, has been deemed fit to compete in next week’s women’s skateboard park final.
Brown dislocated her shoulder on Sunday, days before she flew out to the French capital to compete at Paris 2024.
Team GB doctors and physios have reportedly now cleared Brown to take part in Tuesday's women's park skateboarding.
"This one was really scary," said Brown. "My shoulder being out and I couldn't get it back in. My dad put it in for me.
"When I get back I'll have to do surgery, so it doesn't come out again. They're bringing some braces tomorrow and I will try it out and have to be strapped for every time I skate.
"My message would be what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, as cringey as it is."

The 2022 world champion became Great Britain’s youngest ever Olympian at Tokyo 2020, where she competed aged 13.
She showed experience beyond her years too, walking away with a bronze medal in the discipline's first appearance at an Olympics.
Three years on, she has cemented her place at the top of the sport, winning two X Games golds (2021, 2022) as well as the 2022 World Championship in Sharjah, UAE.
Brown is one of the favourites for gold at La Concorde Urban Park venue, where Kieran Reilly secured silver in the men’s BMX Freestyle finals.
