Amber Jo Rutter shot Team GB to a superb silver medal after an outstanding performance in a women’s skeet final that went to a gripping shoot-off.
The 26-year-old claimed her maiden Olympic medal after a tense battle with Francisca Crovetto Chadid for the gold medal, which went the Chilean's way following a controversial miss that was called much to Rutter's dismay.
It was Great Britain’s second shooting medal of Paris 2024 after Nathan Hales’ superb gold in the men’s trap.
A shoot-off was required to separate Rutter and Chadid when they finished level after both hitting 55/60 targets.
The shoot-off, which sees shooters alternate taking two shots in a sudden-death format, had a controversial conclusion when Rutter was penalised for a miss that she contested, believing she had clipped the clay.
Chadid pounced on the opportunity by nailing both of her final two shots to take Chile’s first-ever shooting medal.

It was a disappointing end for Rutter, but still a superb achievement for the Brit as she claimed her first Olympic medal just four months after giving birth to her first son.
Rutter was ice-cool throughout, her composed demeanour only breaking for a second when she realised she was guaranteed a medal by making it into the final three.
The 2022 European champion was joint-leader alongside Chadid after missing one shot in the opening 20, but she dropped one shot behind the Chilean after 30 to go into silver medal position.
A third miss of the day on target 34 was written off by Chadid also suffering a rare miss, and Rutter put her hands on her head almost in disbelief at reaching the final three to guarantee herself a podium place when Slovakia’s Vanesa Hockova bowed out.
Rutter found herself two shots behind the lead and in the bronze position after a miss early in the next round, but a mistake from Smith put her back into the top two, resulting in a showdown with Chadid.
The Chilean had looked effortless throughout, but nerves crept in when she missed two shots to allow Rutter a way back in, levelling the scores at 55 each to set up a shoot-off.

Neither athlete blinked as they both nailed their first four targets, before Chadid failed to capitalise on a rare Rutter miss when she followed suit.
Then came the controversial moment as a miss was called for Rutter in the following round, much to the Brit’s surprise as replays appeared to show she clipped the clay, but it stood with no review system in place.
Chadid kept her composure at the second time of asking to hit both of her targets and take gold in gripping fashion.
