Three months of racing has been scheduled to take place from August 22, as the countdown begins to the highly-anticipated America's Cup. The Preliminary Regatta and Louis Vuitton Cup are both pencilled in ahead of the main event, further whetting the appetite for the race itself, which begins on October 12. The respective youth and women's events have also been announced across the same period.

An action-packed two-month sailing schedule has been confirmed, after the dates for the Preliminary Regatta, Louis Vuitton Cup and the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup were announced.
It all begins with the Preliminary Regatta – running between August 22 and August 25 – as all six of the America’s Cup teams showcase their new AC75s.
Focus then shifts to the Louis Vuitton Cup on August 29, which sees two round robins, featuring all six teams taking place, including the defending champions, Emirates Team New Zealand.
The top four challengers will advance to the Louis Vuitton Cup semi-finals between September 14 and 19.
The top qualifier will choose their semi-final opponent and each match will be a best-of-nine format.
The winning semi-finalists will face off in the Louis Vuitton Cup Final from September 26 to October 5, with the victors facing Emirates Team New Zealand in the 37th America's Cup, which commences on October 12 and is a best-of-13 races event (first to seven), which is expected to conclude by October 21.
There are reserve days pencilled in between October 22 and October 27, should they be required.
The full schedule is as follows:
  • Preliminary Regatta: August 22-25
  • Louis Vuitton Cup Round Robins: August 29-September 8
  • Louis Vuitton Cup Semi Finals: September 14-19
  • Louis Vuitton Cup Finals: September 26-October 5
  • Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Match: October 12-21
Speaking after the schedule was announced, Grant Dalton, Emirates Team New Zealand and America’s Cup Events (ACE) chief executive, said: “This is almost certainly the highest challenger standard seen in the America’s Cup in the past 25 years and the winner will be battle-hardened having come through the white-hot intensity of the Louis Vuitton Cup.
“For Emirates Team New Zealand, we will have seen the competitiveness early in the round robin stage, but it will be a very different and interesting challenge for us to overcome when it comes to the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup Match. It’s going to be a classic cup contest.”
Meanwhile, separate youth and Puig Women’s America’s Cup regattas will run alongside the America’s Cup schedule.
The dates are as follows:
  • Youth America’s Cup: September 17-25
  • Youth America’s Cup final: September 26
  • Puig Women’s America’s Cup: October 5-13
  • Puig Women’s America’s Cup: October 13
The fleet in each respective regatta will be divided into two groups of six boats for an opening series consisting of eight races.
Teams finishing in the top six places will progress into a four-race fleet-race, where the top two boats in each series will be determined.
Both the youth and women’s races will be a winner-takes-all one-race shootout.
