Betsen to appeal ban

France flanker Serge Betsen is to appeal against his six-week ban for kicking scrumhalf Matt Dawson in the head during England's 24-7 World Cup semi-final win. The French rugby federation said on Friday the appeal would be heard within 48 hours, according to the L'Equipe website.

Betsen's action was not considered deliberate but the player accepted it was reckless. The ban runs from November 17 to December 29.
