ALL BLACKS TRIUMPH AFTER STRONG FINISH TO DOWN IRELAND
New Zealand scored three unanswered tries in the last 20 minutes to overcome Ireland 26-13 in their Gallagher Cup re-match.
Ireland were looking to repeat their famous victory over the All Blacks from nine years earlier.
Despite Tadhg Beirne being controversially sent off after two minutes, the new 20-minute rule allowed Ireland to stay in the match with 15 men and Iain Henderson came on after the time allocation.
Jack Crowley’s early penalty was all that separated the sides at half-time following an error-strewn 40 minutes, in which Tadhg Furlong opening try was cancelled out by Ardie Savea.
Crowley then added a second penalty as Ireland led by six points on the hour mark.
That was before New Zealand showed their depth of talent as Tamaiti Williams, Wallace Sititi and Cam Roigard all ran over scores to seal the win.
New Zealand head to Murrayfield to face Scotland next Saturday (15:10 GMT) in their Quilter Nations Series opener, while Ireland host Japan earlier the same day (12:40) - with both matches live on TNT Sports and discovery+.

SHEEHAN: ‘BITTER PILL TO SWALLOW’
Ireland hooker Dan Sheehan said that their defeat was a "bitter pill to swallow" following a 13-point loss to New Zealand.
"That was a bitter pill to swallow," he said. "To be honest, I don't think we ever really got going.
"We saw very small patches of what we were looking for, but couldn't really put the whole picture together.
"I thought we were operating at about 80%, maybe going into that sort of half-time period and we looked to get a bit extra going into that second half.
"At times we did, but a lot of inaccuracies, breakdown, line-out and discipline. We have a lot to work on, and hopefully we can bounce back into the Aviva next week and turn it around."

HOLLAND: WE WANTED TO MAKE A STATEMENT
New Zealand player of the match Fabian Holland said that his side wanted to "make a statement" ahead of the Quilter Nations Series.
He said: "We’re just stoked to get the win.
"We just wanted to make a statement at the start of his tour, hopefully we were able to do that.
"We talked all week about backing each other up and being there for each other, that's what we did.
"It was an absolute team effort. We just had to keep playing All Black rugby, throwing the ball around, being relentless on defence."
