REPORT: CLASSY SCOTLAND END YEAR ON A HIGH
Scotland enjoyed an impressive winning end to the year by ending Australia's hopes of an Autumn Nation Series Grand Slam with a powerful 27-13 victory at Murrayfield.
Joe Schmidt's side arrived in Edinburgh with high hopes of emulating their 1984 success against the Home Nations after wins against England (42-37) and Wales (52-20), but found Gregor Townsend's men too hot to handle.
Captain Sione Tuipulotu (22'), Duhan van der Merwe (51') - who again moved ahead of team-mate Darcy Graham as his country's leading scorer with his 30th try - Josh Bayliss (67') and Finn Russell (71') ensured their would be no repeat of the 37-12 triumph which sealed the Grand Slam against the Scots 40 years ago before Harry Potter grabbed a consolation try for the Wallabies with five minutes remaining.
In truth, Scotland could have won by more as they passed up several chances to increase their lead by opting against taking easy points from penalties, but it is an ideal statement win, their fourth against the Wallabies in their past five matches, ahead of the Six Nations campaign on February 1.

FINAL SCORE: SCOTLAND 27-13 AUSTRALIA
Just too good in the end from Scotland. Far from perfect today, but got the job done with something to spare. Very, very impressive from Gregor Townsend's men. A dominant victory in the end.

LAST ATTACKING MOVE OF THE MATCH
Frantic attempt by Australia to grab another try, but brutal defence by Scotland to hold them up on their line and they somehow survive. That is the last action of the game. Superb from Scotland.

CAN SCOTLAND FINISH WITH ANOTHER SCORE?
Aim for the corner, but another line-out is not good for the Scots and Australia have chance to clear. Donaldson thumps it clear.

AUSTRALIA HAVE TO RUN THE BALL
Running out of time fast here. Clock and a well organised Scottish defence is against them. All over here surely. Scotland have dominated the ball in the right areas in this second half.

TRY! SCOTLAND 27-13 AUSTRALIA
A lengthy look by the TMO to see if Harry Potter is still in play as he powers through to ground the ball. Brilliant finish for their first try of the day. Donaldson with the two points. McDermott with a supreme assist.

This was a brilliant move by Scotland with Bayliss showing his finishing power to go over on the outside.

TRY! SCOTLAND 27-6 AUSTRALIA
Surely game, set and match for Scotland now as Russell goes over with some ease. Controlling possession and territory. And getting their rewards. Bang goes the Aussie Grand Slam bid. Jones to Kinghorn to Russell. So simple.

TRY! SCOTLAND 22-6 AUSTRALIA
Josh Bayliss marks his introduction with a marvellous try for Scotland. That is brilliant as he dragged several Australian players over with him. Graham with the pass, and Bayliss went on the outside to go over. Fifth try in 10 matches. No conversion.

SCOTLAND WIN ANOTHER SCRUM PENALTY!
That delights the Scotland team, who sense another chance to bring up some more vital momentum. Wallabies collapsing and Fagerson earns the pat on back.
63'
SCOTLAND ALMOST PUNISHED
The home side making the mess of a line-out five metres out. Chance to finish off the Wallabies, but suddenly the visitors break to the other end at pace. Valetini with the kick up the pitch, but McDermott ends up kicking the ball across field straight to Tuipulotu five metres from glory. What a chance he missed there.

GAME MANAGEMENT VITAL FOR SCOTLAND
Russell with some lovely little touches in this game both with hand and boot, but the home side do not need to chase this game in the final 20 minutes. Can control this match from here on in.

SCOTLAND EARN A SCRUM PENALTY
Which always feels like a win for any side as Russell can clear with some relish. Scotland winning the kicking battle in terms of setting up decent positions in the final third.

AUSTRALIA'S MAUL MALFUNCTIONS
Wilson wins the ball from the line-out, but the Australian maul is pushed upwards and Gilchrist ends up with the ball as Scotland earn the decision. Fresh front row for the Wallabies not bringing the heat.

TRY! SCOTLAND 17-6 AUSTRALIA
Superb piece of rampant play by Scotland after so many phases to shove back the visitors. Great break and superb quick ball by the home side. Russell to Kinghorn and the 15-metre pass to Duhan van der Merwe to go over. Russell adds the two.

A DELAY IN THE MATCH
Kinghorn with a lovely offload to set White racing free. He collides Wright with the chip over the top heading for the try line. The video is going to have a look at this. But no foul play by Wright. Much to the annoyance of the home fans. Dropout for the Aussies.
47'
SCOTLAND NOT TAKING THE POINTS
They've opted against getting the scoreboard ticking over on several occasions. Which might haunt them at the end. Fagerson penalised for losing the ball. Australia can kick to touch.
45'
TWO QUICKFIRE PENALTIES
Russell gives Scotland a 10-3 lead with a penalty after Australia don't release, but back come the visitors with Noah Lolesio slotting a penalty after a turnover. Back to 10-6. Tizzano doing a number there on Kinghorn.
