Scotland v Australia live: Autumn Nation Series latest as Greg Townsend's men overpower Wallabies with superb four-try victory at Murrayfield

Scotland enjoyed an impressive winning end to the year by ending Australia's hopes of an Autumn Nation Series Grand Slam with a powerful 27-13 victory at Murrayfield.

Joe Schmidt's side arrived in Edinburgh with high hopes of emulating their 1984 success against the Home Nations after wins against England (42-37) and Wales (52-20), but found Gregor Townsend's men too hot to handle.

Captain Sione Tuipulotu (22'), Duhan van der Merwe (51') - who again moved ahead of team-mate Darcy Graham as his country's leading scorer with his 30th try - Josh Bayliss (67') and Finn Russell (71') ensured their would be no repeat of the 37-12 triumph which sealed the Grand Slam against the Scots 40 years ago before Harry Potter grabbed a consolation try for the Wallabies with five minutes remaining.

In truth, Scotland could have won by more as they passed up several chances to increase their lead by opting against taking easy points from penalties, but it is an ideal statement win, their fourth against the Wallabies in their past five matches, ahead of the Six Nations campaign on February 1.

Just too good in the end from Scotland. Far from perfect today, but got the job done with something to spare. Very, very impressive from Gregor Townsend's men. A dominant victory in the end.

Josh Bayliss marks his introduction with a marvellous try for Scotland. That is brilliant as he dragged several Australian players over with him. Graham with the pass, and Bayliss went on the outside to go over. Fifth try in 10 matches. No conversion.

That delights the Scotland team, who sense another chance to bring up some more vital momentum. Wallabies collapsing and Fagerson earns the pat on back.

The home side making the mess of a line-out five metres out. Chance to finish off the Wallabies, but suddenly the visitors break to the other end at pace. Valetini with the kick up the pitch, but McDermott ends up kicking the ball across field straight to Tuipulotu five metres from glory. What a chance he missed there.

Russell with some lovely little touches in this game both with hand and boot, but the home side do not need to chase this game in the final 20 minutes. Can control this match from here on in.

Which always feels like a win for any side as Russell can clear with some relish. Scotland winning the kicking battle in terms of setting up decent positions in the final third.

Wilson wins the ball from the line-out, but the Australian maul is pushed upwards and Gilchrist ends up with the ball as Scotland earn the decision. Fresh front row for the Wallabies not bringing the heat.
