"With the Rugby World Cup just a year away it's fantastic for the younger players to have the opportunity to go on tour with the more experienced players and develop their skills," Australia coach John Connolly said in a statement.

"We have a line up of strong opponents and will be looking at this tour as a chance to benchmark the opposition ahead of next year's World Cup."

The match against Wales will be a dress rehearsal for the sides' first-round clash at next year's World Cup. The game at Rome's Stadio Flaminio will be Australia's first on Italian soil since 2002.
