ENGLAND LEAVE IT LATE TO PICK UP HUGE VICTORY OVER FRANCE
England scored a last-gasp try to beat France at Allianz Arena to pick up their first win of the 2025 Six Nations and a bonus-point victory to boot.
Elliot Daly dived under the posts in the 79th minute, before Fin Smith converted on his debut start to give England a huge win with virtually the last kick of the match.
Pressure was mounting on head coach Steve Borthwick, but his side battled brilliantly to beat a French side who hadn't lost since July.
England had lost six of their seven previous matches, but now sit second in the Six Nations table and level on points with leaders France.
The visitors extended their lead three times in the second half through the boot of Thomas Ramos and a try from Damian Penaud, but were pegged back by tries from Tommy Freeman and Fin Baxter on debut.
Freeman collected an excellent cross-field kick from Fin Smith before scoring in the corner, whilst Baxter dived over from the back of a ruck.
Bielle-Barrey thought he had won it for France, going over in the corner with just five minutes to play, but Daly and England had other ideas.
The two sides went into the break level after Ollie Lawrence’s score five minutes before the end of the half brought England level.
Lawrence was picked out by Freeman, who had collected a bouncing ball after some poor England handling and the Bath centre scored directly under the posts.
In the first-half, France had taken the lead during a scrappy first 30 minutes, Bielle-Biarrey collecting Penaud’s excellent grubber kick, before crossing in the corner.
The visitors had spurned two glorious opportunities to score just minutes before, with Penaud and captain Antoine Dupont fumbling the ball at exactly the wrong moment, as handling issues plagued the French throughout the match.
Allianz Arena was in fine voice throughout as they were treated to a thrilling match and England will be back on home turf in two weeks against Scotland, as we go into the first break of the Six Nations.
France will face Italy in Rome, as they look to get back on track.

MARO ITOJE: THIS TEAM IS GOING TO SHOW ENGLAND FANS HOW MUCH IT MEANS TO THEM
"I can't remember what I said after the game to the players; it was all a blur. We weren't as accurate as we wanted to be throughout this game, but what I love about this team is that we are going to fight for each other, we are going to believe in each other.
"I thought we were brave, we were b***y and that is the foundation of what we want to be going forward. Imagine how good we can be if we add a level of accuracy on top of this fight.
"I am delighted for the team, I am delighted for the fans; thanks for staying with us. We will look to build from here.
"We need to be accurate and consistent throughout the game. We are going to fight. This team is going to fight. This team is going to show England fans how much it means to them.
"Thank you so much for the support, Twickenham was absolutely rocking today," said Maro Itoje.

FIN SMITH: THIS IS A PRETTY COOL DEBUT
"It was back and forth. We have lost plenty of games like that in the past, but luckily it went our way today.
"It wasn't pretty at times, but my God, the group worked hard tonight.
"We really backed ourselves, we had to keep playing and moving the ball, and we did that. France are a great side. They let us off the hook in the first half, and we knew that momentum would swing back to us.
"I felt a bit like a rabbit in headlights during the first half, but found my feet in the second half and settled down. I'm delighted we got the win more than anything, but this is a pretty cool debut," said Fin Smith.

ENGLAND SECURE FIRST VICTORY OF SIX NATIONS!
England fought back brilliantly to pick up their first victory of the Six Nations and first under Maro Itoje's captaincy to alleviate some pressure from Steve Borthwick.
France looked set to have secured their fourth consecutive victory over England thanks to Louis Bielle-Biarrey's late try, but Elliot Daly stepped up to score in the last minute to send Allianz Stadium into raptures.
Borthwick's side had previously lost six of their last seven matches, so a win against one of the best sides in the world was just what the doctor ordered.
England rode their luck at times, but Daly's try ensures they go into the week's break with a bonus-point victory.
