Tyrone Green suffers embarrassing Allianz Stadium moment as Harlequins full-back knocks on guaranteed try after early celebration against Gloucester

Tyrone Green missed the chance to add to Harlequins' lead against Gloucester in their Gallagher Premiership clash at Allianz Stadium, as he failed to dot down the ball over the try line, knocking the ball on unprompted while celebrating prematurely. The full-back was finishing off an incisive Quins move only for a collective groan to envelop the stadium as the replays showed his mistake.

Tyrone Green suffered an embarrassing moment during Harlequins' Gallagher Premiership clash with Gloucester, as the full-back knocked on what looked a certain try.
It was an impressive and powerful try that was, at first glance, finished well by Green, but as he celebrated prematurely by sticking his tongue out, replays showed the ball slipping from the grasp of the South African as he tried to dot it down.
TNT Sports commentators Nick Mullins, David Flatman, and Austin Healey joined in a collective groan around Allianz Stadium in Twickenham as the back missed the chance to extend Quins' lead.
"Put the tongue away and put the ball down," said Healey.
"Santiago Carreras came over and actually waved it to the referee, he said it's not a try and he was right."
Quins had taken the lead roughly four minutes prior to Green's slip-up through Cadan Murley.
The lead-up to that try featured a Marcus Smith pass that, to many in the stadium, including TNT Sports' presenters, appeared to be forward.
TMO Ian Tempest felt the pass was not forward, and referee Adam Leal awarded the controversial opening try.

Rankled Gloucester fans would have felt some level of justice after watching Green's knock-on.
"Agonising that. There will be Gloucester fans at home saying there's a sense of poetic justice to that after the first try," added Flatman.
