Gallagher Premiership LIVE - Saracens v Northampton Saints

Saracens delivered a dominant performance, scoring six tries in a comprehensive Premiership victory over reigning champions Northampton Saints.

Fly-half Fergus Burke crossed twice, complemented by tries from Rhys Carre and Theo Dan, to establish a commanding 24-0 lead for the hosts in challenging, windy conditions at StoneX Stadium.

Northampton briefly hinted at a comeback early in the second half with tries from Tommy Freeman and Tom Pearson. However, Saracens regained control, with substitute Jamie George and Ben Earl adding to their tally to secure a vital bonus-point win, lifting them to third in the league.

The Saints managed to salvage a late bonus point through consolation tries from Ollie Sleightholme and Archie McParland but remain eighth in the standings with 15 points from eight games.

"We're happy with that score. We knew they were going to be strong. A home game win against champions is great for us. When you don't have a very good first-half, you get told to be more direct and physical.

"From our point of view, it really makes us try to see how much pressure we can actually put on them rather than create an arm wrestle like you saw in the second-half.

"We just need to keep momentum and pick up points every week. The first-half performance was very good, but we believe we have so much more to give, and we have a very talented team.

"We want to see how far we can go and today was a great example of that. Brandon Jackon and Tobias Elliot did really well.

"Harry Wilson looked comfortable on his Premiership debut at 19 years old. We want to keep developing the young guys, so that's always great to see."

"I'm delighted to be man of the match. We respect the Saints a massive amount. That first half was exceptional, especially in the wind. In the second half, there are definitely things to work on.

"Playing against the wind and being 24-0 up was great for us. I think we let in a few more tries than we wanted to, but a win at home just before Christmas is perfect for us."

Northampton Saints are going to be 8th if they are to lose this match.

Their set piece isn't as strong or dominant as last year, but they could still do the job.

It all started with Litchfield's puncture of the Saracens defence.

Northampton have points to prove in this second-half.

Saints lost game line, physicality and much more in that first-half. Their handling errors and dropping of simple, basic passes is very unlike them.

Saracens are dominating the game. Northampton can not come out of the second-half any worse than that.

Theo Dan had so much promise and has not been able to show that much this season. Here he is demonstrating his strength and physicality.

He created two tries and essentially finished them himself. There's no way he should be scoring between three Saints defenders, but he does.

With the defence of Saracens being on-top and in your face constantly, it's no surprise Saints are struggling.
