Brennan was banned after being found guilty of misconduct during a European Cup game when he entered the spectators' area and hit Ulster fan Patrick Bamford.
"Trevor Brennan has lodged an appeal against the decision of the independent Disciplinary Committee regarding the Misconduct complaint against him," ERC said in a statement.
"The independent Disciplinary Committee found Mr Brennan guilty of misconduct in that he entered one of the seating areas and repeatedly struck Ulster spectator Patrick Bamford.
"A date for the appeal to be heard, and the composition of the independent appeal committee, will be confirmed as soon as practicable."
Brennan will also appeal his suspension from all ERC tournaments and the hefty fines handed down by the independent committee.
The former Ireland international had already announced his retirement from all rugby before the hearing on March 16.
