Premiership Women's Rugby: Georgia Brock scores twice as Gloucester-Hartpury extend unbeaten run with win

Gloucester-Hartpury maintained their unbeaten start to the Allianz Premiership Women's Rugby season with a 31-24 victory against Exeter Chiefs.

The defending champions have now won all 12 of their matches and are 14 points clear at the top of the table, but faced a stern test against their third-place opponents.

Gloucester-Hartpury had already scored two tries after just 12 minutes at Kingsholm, with Emma Sing running on to her own kick to touch down the opener, before Pip Hendy scored the second.

But the momentum then swung in favour of Exeter, who hit back with a converted try from Emily Tuttosi. Hope Rogers then gave the visitors a 12-10 lead.

WIth the clock ticking down to half-time, Georgia Brock scored her first try of the game to put Gloucester-Hartpury back in control, with Sing scoring the conversion.

Exeter were not disheartened, however, and Tuttosi got her second try for Exeter as the second half got underway.

It was only then that Gloucester-Hartpury started to put distance between themselves and Exeter, thanks to a Hunt’s close range try, Brock’s second of the match, and a successful conversion from Sing.

With Gloucester-Hartpury leading 31-19 with just a few minutes left, Eilidh Sinclair’s late try for Exeter ensured the team did not go home empty handed, securing two losing bonus points.

Next up for Gloucester-Hartpury is Harlequins on Friday, March 8, while Exeter will come up against Loughborough Lightning on March 9.

Elsewhere, Bristol Bears stayed in fourth with a 38-10 result against Ealing Trailfinders in seventh.

Bristol were leading 19-10 at the break, before scoring 21 unanswered points in the second half.

Lana Skeldon, Lark Atkin-Davies and Gwenllian Pyrs each scored twice for Bristol, who will next play Saracens on Sunday, March 10.

Trailfinders are set to travel to Sale Sharks, whose match against Loughborough Lightning tomorrow will be shown live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
