Paris Olympics closing ceremony: Billie Eilish, H.E.R, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Snoop Dogg to perform, Tom Cruise rumoured

An American all-star line-up will take to the Stade de France stage as part of the Los Angeles 2028 handover at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony, which will start the countdown to the next Games in four years' time. The finale will also see closing remarks by International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach.

The first acts of the Paris 2024 closing ceremony have finally been revealed, with Billie Eilish, H.E.R., Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg confirmed for the Stade de France finale.
Grammy Award-winners Billie Eilish, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg will all perform at the event, while R&B star H.E.R. is set to sing the US national anthem, 'The Star-Spangled Banner', live in Paris.
Artistic director Thomas Jolly had previously been tight-lipped about plans for the closing ceremony, with the only clue that performers would be “world-renowned”.
Titled 'Records', the stadium-based show will feature more than 100 performers, acrobats, dancers and circus acts, and would be markedly different to the Seine-based opening ceremony, where Celine Dion and Lady Gaga starred.
But with the event set to kick off at 20:00 UK time, the first names have been announced.
The blockbuster quartet of musical acts represent the varied culture of the West Coast city, and all are Californian icons in their own right.
Their performances will form part of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games handover celebration, which will see the handover of the Olympic flag to the Los Angeles 2028 organising committee.
The Californian city is set to host the XXXIV Olympiad in four years’ time, becoming the third location after London and Paris to host the Games three times, having previously hosted in 1932 and 1984.
In addition to the musical performances, members of Team USA Olympians will also be part of the handover.
Two-time Olympic medallist skateboarder Jagger Eaton, mountain biker Kate Courtney and legendary track and field gold medallist Michael Johnson will all be involved, while it has been confirmed that LeBron James will carry Team USA’s flag in the athletes’ parade.
