Biles is the most decorated gymnast in Olympic history, and has previously said she would be at the Games in some form, without giving any detail as to her plans.
However, in an interview with CNN Sports, Biles has suggested that she could compete as an athlete in her home country.
”I feel like we’re still at a 50-50 and that we’re still on a time crunch here now it’s almost half of 2026,” the 29-year-old said. ”We’re going to have to make these decisions pretty quickly.”
Biles is not in competition at the moment as she takes a break from the sport, and is so far intending to take up Pilates and yoga.
When asked what is on her mind as she plans a potential return to gymnastics, and a fourth Olympic Games appearance, she said that both physical and mental health would play a part in her consideration.
She explained: ”Mental health plays a big role in it because, physically, my coaches will get me in shape.
”I can get myself in shape. We believe in that ability. We’re really thankful that I’m still healthy.
”Mental is a huge thing, and it’s a lot of dedication on that because the road’s not easy. It’s long, but it’s still work.”
Biles has previously struggled with the psychological demands of the sport, and suffered a case of 'the twisties' at Japan in 2021, causing her to miss several events at the Games, which had to be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Reflecting on that period, Biles believes it showed that despite her success on the mat, she had her own problems.
She said: ”I feel like it showed the realness to me because everyone thought I was a robot, she’s not real, but it’s like, down to the core, I’m just like you guys. I’m real.

”It got me the therapy that I deserved, and I’m still currently in therapy.
”I had a lot of help and my core group was really helpful in letting me know that it’s okay people go through this, and you’re just human.
”Gymnasts aren’t viewed as people who have weaknesses, and that was the first time that weakness was displayed on a global stage like that.
”Now, I look at it as being courageous and not so much a weakness.”
