Cycling Central Intelligence (CCI) is the platform that fuelled the Mountain Bike World Series. Warner Bros. Discovery and Amazon Web Services have launched the exciting new broadcasting platform to view the opening round of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series earlier this year. The platform was able to use artificial intelligence to combine and interpret race data.

Warner Bros. Discovery teamed up with Amazon Web Services to launch a cutting-edge AI-powered platform that transformed how fans experienced the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series.
Fans followed their favourite riders more closely than ever, capturing the excitement, emotion, and energy of every moment.
On April 4, 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) officially launched a groundbreaking new broadcasting platform during the opening round of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series.
The platform, known as Cycling Central Intelligence (CCI), used AI to combine and interpret race data, creating a uniquely immersive experience for fans.
Cutting-edge tech meets human expertise
AWS played a pivotal role in this innovation, as the official Cloud, AI, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning Provider for the World Series.
This partnership empowered WBD to deliver world-class coverage of mountain biking competitions to a global audience.
"This collaboration showed how AWS, through its specialised AI services, can help WBD by boosting human expertise," said Samira Panah Bakhtiar, general manager for Media & Entertainment, Gaming, and Sports at AWS.
"By drastically reducing the time needed to research and synthesise information, CCI frees up the talent and creativity of Warner Bros Discovery commentators, who can then concentrate on their passion and their ability to convey the excitement of the event."

WBD identified their specific needs and collaborated with AWS to design a platform that fits them perfectly.Â
The CCI platform is powered by Amazon Bedrock and Anthropic’s Claude 3.5, processing hundreds of data points (including athlete stats, historical results, and real-time race updates) to create a unified, accessible information hub.
This streamlined the workflow for broadcasters and production teams, allowing them to focus on storytelling and creativity.
Fully immersed fansÂ
Despite its advanced AI capabilities, CCI doesn’t replace human insight – it enhances it. The platform was built to support professional broadcasters rather than override them.
It seamlessly integrates Amazon Textract to process documents, Amazon Translate for multilingual support, and Amazon Comprehend to organise information.

These tools ensure WBD’s production teams have total control over the narrative, keeping it authentic and human-led.
Ultimately, the biggest winners were the fans. With CCI, viewers followed their favourite riders in unprecedented detail and precision. Mountain bike races can now be totally immersive thanks to the systems that take all the data into account in real time.
Chris Ball, vice president of cycling events at WBD Sports, was delighted: "Our commentators and producers bring unrivalled levels of experience and passion for the sport, and thanks to our partnership with AWS, CCI guarantees that they can offer the expert analysis that our viewers love."
