MARQUEZ REWARDED FOR AGGRESSION WITH GRAND PRIX WIN
Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) took his third Moto GP victory of the season at the Sepang International Circuit, after leading from the second lap.
Marquez sealed runner-up in the overall championship after placing second in the previous day’s Sprint race, behind Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team).
He was not to be denied in Malaysia and passed Bagnaia on the second lap with an aggressive move before building an unassailable lead.
Bagnaia lost his battle for second with Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) with seven laps remaining – their jostling for position allowing Marquez to pull away.
After his Sprint race win the previous day Bagnaia was losing time in the latter stages to the leading pair, before a mechanical problem with three laps remaining forced him to retire.
That opened the door for Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) to complete the podium positions after seeing off Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) following a race-long duel between the pair.
The penultimate round of this year’s Moto GP series takes place in Portugal between November 7 and 9.

MARQUEZ: ‘WE HAD CLEVER STRATEGY’
Alex Marquez praised the "clever strategy" of his BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP team which saw him attack his rivals early on and build an unassailable advantage.
"I’ve had better weekends," said Marquez. "It was not an easy weekend for us. We started suffering a lot, suffering two crashes. On Friday and later on the feeling was not really perfect, but today, the strategy was clever.
"It was that the strategy was the winner one, so it was really clever on that point to make the move and to be aggressive on that moment of the day because I saw it was key.
"I lose one race here, two years ago, by waiting too much. So I decide to go for it. I’m really happy. It's a really important win for us to celebrate the second (overall)."

ACOSTA: ‘I WAITED FOR MY MOMENT’
Pedro Acosta said that he had to wait for the right moment to pass Francesco Bagnaia on his way to second in the Grand Prix Malaysia.
He said: "I had to wait for my moment at the end.
"Alex (Marquez) was super-fast from the beginning and super aggressive. Today I was annoyed with the warm up as we didn’t have power out of the last two corners and I was losing a lot of time.
"I wanted the team to remove all the controls and so we could go racing. It was super cool and I want to thank all my crew who did a super great job."

MIR: ‘WE ARE CLOSER TO MAIN GOAL’
Honda rider Joan Mir says his team are getting closer to their ‘main goal’ after his second podium of the season – following his first podium in Japan last month.
"When you push and give 100 percent always and you never give up, sometimes giving interviews I didn’t know what to say," said Mir.
"That moment makes this one super special. I never gave up, my team never gave up too. Thank you to them. We are a lot closer to our main goal that is to point a little bit more up. Right now it’s fantastic."

LIGHTS OUT
We are underway in what is set to be a gruelling race at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
Twenty laps in this heat with tyre degradation to worry about is going to be a tough ask.
The warm-up lap saw several riders taking their time in a bid to keep their tyres cooler. The air temperate is 34 degrees Celsius, but the track temperature is far higher.
