BRILLIANT BEZZECCHI BOUNCES BACK
Marco Bezzecchi recovered from his first-turn crash in Saturday's Sprint race with a superb ride to claim victory in the Grand Prix of Indonesia at Mandalika.
Factory Aprilia rider Bezzecchi took the top spot on the podium ahead of Trackhouse Racing's Raul Fernandez, with Bezzecchi's teammate Jorge Martin's third place sending him back to the top of the championship standings.
Fernandez, who was riding with two broken fingers following Saturday's collision with Bezzecchi in the Sprint race, established an early lead, with Bezzecchi staying in touch in second place. But behind them, Marc Marquez was caught and passed by championship rival Martin for third, and the factory Ducati man was later overhauled by first the Red Bull KTM of Pedro Acosta, then Fernandez's Trackhouse Racing teammate Ai Ogura, as he was relegated to sixth place.
It meant that the championship race closed up, with Martin resuming his spot at the top of the standings, just two points ahead of Marquez in second. The weekend's big winner was Bezzecchi, who now sits just 46 points off the lead with five rounds still to go.
The action heads Down Under to Australia for Round 18 of the championship on October 23-25, where the title race is sure to take another twist. But today belonged to Aprilia, as both of their contenders outscored Marquez on the day in Indonesia.

BEZZECCHI ELATED WITH BOUNCE-BACK VICTORY
"It's amazing. I'm very, very happy," said an elated Marco Bezzecchi after he rebounded from his first-corner crash in Saturday's Sprint with victory in the Grand Prix race at Mandalika.
"It was my target since when I broke everything at Sachsenring, so I'm very, very happy to be back on the top step of the podium.
"It was a nice battle with Raul, and I think we deserved a result like this. Me and all my team, especially them, because they never stop working. They've been through tough times with me, so I'm very, very happy.
"This is all for them, for my family at home, and all my friends. So thanks a lot, and see you at Phillip Island."

FERNANDEZ RODE THROUGH THE PAIN BARRIER TO SEAL SECOND-PLACE FINISH
"No, I don't have more [to give]," said second-place finisher Raul Fernandez after his gutsy ride ended with a podium.
"I don't really know what I can say, because for me it was really difficult yesterday when I when I crashed and I immediately saw my hand. I knew before I went to the clinic that I had broken my finger – the one that I normally use to brake. So when I saw that, I said, 'Maybe tomorrow I cannot start from pole. So yeah, we will try, and let's see.'
"This morning, when I woke up, I saw that I didn't have one, I had two fingers broken. No one knew. I tried not to say anything, just to keep the pain for me, and just keep my focus on the race.
"The thing is that this morning I tried to see how I could find a solution on the brake because I was not able to use the finger I normally use. So I used the other one, and I started everything from zero – all the setup, the reference of the braking, how I had to use the front brake – so it was a very difficult job for me.
"Normally when I am first, I don't really make too many mistakes. Today I made too many. I was wide in too many corners. I immediately destroyed my rear tyre and I just tried to survive. But by the last five laps, I was completely done."

MARTIN GAVE EVERYTHING TO TAKE THIRD AT MANDALIKA
"I think I did the maximum," said Jorge Martin during his post-race interview after finishing third in the race.
"Marco and Raul were a bit stronger than me during the whole weekend. I was trying to match them, but every time I matched them, they were making other steps. So I did my best.
"[At] the start I lost a lot of positions, but I tried to be calm. Step by step, I was overtaking riders, and then I just put my pace, tried to to be calm. The last two laps, I was struggling a lot with the tyres, with the physical condition, but finally, I was able to finish on the podium.
"So, really, really happy, third podium in a row, and yeah, we are still in the fight. We are still in the lead. It will be a tough championship, but I will give my all."

HODGSON HAILS 'UNBELIEVABLE' BEZZECCHI
TNT Sports pundit Neil Hodgson paid tribute to Marco Bezzecchi's performance as the Factory Aprilia man claimed victory at Mandalika.
"Unbelievable. Got to say, this man's done really well today," he said.
"Didn't panic early on when he was behind Fernandez. Waited patiently, and then made that move, rode that race perfectly after yesterday.
"Didn't do a lot wrong, went into Turn 1. He was trying to avoid any contact, if anything, and then Raul Fernandez just clipped the back of him as he sat his bike up.
"Imagine in Mugello, it seems like an eternity ago, 10 rounds. When Bezz was dominant, stood at the top step, we said his next round won't be until Mandalika."
Hodgson also said it was a good weekend for Marc Marquez, who may have lost the championship lead, but only sits two points off new championship leader Jorge Martin.
"Status quo, two points. He'll be happy," said Hodgson.
"This has been a proper weekend. Martin has not been dominant this weekend.
"He could have easily done the double and Marquez could easily have had a couple of six-point finishes. The championship continues. It is hard to call."
